Meet Amelie Smith

It took me a few more hours to settle everything down with my character and I definitely feel the different kind of power flowing through my body. I distributed the skill points evenly and I learned the strongest spells that I could find that relates to my new class. When I was finally satisfied, I went to see my Achievements to receive any additional rewards or equip any Character Titles. I received more gold, diamonds, potions, enhancing materials and some equipment that are two grades lower than my Legendary ones. I stored all of them in the bag, mindful that I now currently have more than 6,000 potions and I'm probably considered as the richest player in this game. I checked the Titles area and scrolled through the entire section to see if there's any titles that could further boost up my character or even just make me sound cool. Most of the titles don't have buffs or extra features but those that are connected with my class have some pretty interesting permanent status boosts. I equipped the title that fits me the most and finally exited the entire menu. "I hope other players won't freak out when they see me." I whispered to myself as I stood up from the sofa. I need to buy some new clothes for myself since my current ones feel too tight for me right now. I didn't really know that a male character would become more muscular the further you level up, regardless of class. I opened the door and sighed in relief when I see no one walking down the hallways. I exited the room and walked towards the exit, hoping that the entire building is empty. But of course, that didn't happen. I saw some players walking towards me and I kept my head down to prevent them from noticing me. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I could feel their eyes on me as soon as I passed by them. I forced not to listen to their whispers and murmurs and just proceeded to exit the building. As soon as I got out of the Administration Building, I walked faster than I've ever done before in my life. I didn't care about the stares or the people pointing at my direction, I just continued to go to the nearest Clothing Store that I could find. I opened the doors and, thankfully, the shop is empty. "Welcome!" The man behind the counter said. The Shopkeeper, a human NPC, stood there like a mannequin waiting for orders. It still looks kinda creepy even though the devs programmed them to blink or seem like they were breathing. "What are the most expensive clothes you have?" I asked as I approached him. "Come with me, sir." He said as he went through the door behind him. I went around the counter to follow him, still wishing that no other player is here besides me. I was greeted with rows and rows of silk robes, metal armors, shields, hats, helmets, leather shoes, iron boots and even some plain clothes such as shirts and jeans. I continued to follow the Shopkeeper until I could see the end of the hallway. I didn't expect that the small shop would be hiding an entire warehouse of clothing, but I guess that's the magic of programming for you. "Please enter here." The Shopkeeper stopped in front of another door and held out a hand as if prompting me to enter. I slightly frowned when I saw a door in between the racks of clothes as if it's supposed to be a secret entrance of some sort. "Where does this door lead?" I asked him, hoping that there's an automated response for that question. "The most exclusive items are in there, sir. Only the finest materials that would surely fit even the specific tastes of royalty." He replied with a small smile. I nodded slowly before finally opening the wooden door. "Please meet me in the counter after you've chosen your desired product." The Shopkeeper said before I closed the door. The inside is a small boutique of luxury items. It's like one of those Gucci stores that feels like you're so out of place when you enter. I carefully picked out some clothes for myself and some spare ones that I'm sure I'm going to be using in the future. Usually, we don't really need to change clothes if we don't want to. Hell, we don't even need to take showers or baths in this game. I tried on the clothes and checked the overall price before finally going out of the small room. The Shopkeeper seemed to be happy when I handed him the entire small pouch of gold, but I feel like that's only in my imagination. I saw a changing room near the entrance of the shop and I immediately changed into a simple white v-neck shirt, black pants, black loafers, and a black steam punk type of trench coat. I may look like a villain from a Batman comic, but I like this look. I put all the remaining clothes in my bag and exited the shop. I even thanked the Shopkeeper out of habit before I go out of the store. I opened my Friends List to call Ryan but, unfortunately, he's offline. I guess I just need to hang on to these extra equipment until I catch him in-game. I went to the Market and sighed in exasperation when I saw that there are literally tons of people around. I walked around, trying to find the Blacksmith, ignoring the fact that people go out of their way to stop the things that they're doing just so they could stare at me or whisper about me. Damn, they're not even trying to be subtle about it. It's like they want me to notice them. When I finally found the Blacksmith, the people inside the door-less shop parted like the Red Sea as soon as they set their eyes on me. I took the weird opportunity to walk further inside. The Blacksmith in this city, if I remember correctly, is a player and not an NPC. She's already advanced into Alchemist class as a human, but she doesn't really go into dungeons or raids. I heard it's because she's the sister of one of the game developers, thus the reason why she has her own shop and everything. I saw her behind the seemingly dirty counter currently enhancing a sword. Her staff, consisting of four Dwarf NPCs, worked on other equipment behind her. She lifted up up her gaze towards me and her face brightened like she knew me. "Oh, it's you! Come in!" She said enthusiastically. I looked around me and I realized that they were all just staring at me. Some of them don't look too impressed while most of them looked like they were waiting for me to do something. "I'm talking to you, Blair." She called my name while lightly chuckling. She beckoned me to follow her further inside the shop before I could even reply. She tossed the sword that she's holding to one of the NPCs and I silently sighed before following her. At least I get to go away from the suffocating crowd. "I'm sorry, but do I know you?" I asked as we entered a place that looks like the 'Workers Only' area. "No, but the whole player base knows you. The name's Amelie Smith, Halcyon Dawning's best blacksmith." She introduced herself, voice filled with amusement, as she sat down on a stool and extended her hand. I shook her hand before I sat on the other stool opposite from her. "You looked like you were expecting me." I chuckled awkwardly, not knowing where I got the confidence to be straight to the point. "I can't say I'm not." She looked at me from head to toe, "I've been wanting to meet the unfortunate i***t who accidentally burned down the entire forest for three days now and I gotta say that you look rather nice." She gave me a thumbs up and I scratched the back of my head in embarrassment. "Do you mind if I check you profile?" She asked even before I opened my mouth to answer her previous statement. "Uh, sure. No problem." I answered. Most people don't even need to ask since our profiles can be seen by anyone. A floating window appeared in front of her and she made an audible 'hmm' sound as she reads my profile. [ Name: Blair Moonwell Player Level: 999 Class: Marionette Combat Power: 587,228,931 ] "Oh damn. You're actually a monster." She slapped my back hard and I didn't even flinch form the impact.
