David had returned home from his usual night out since he barely stays home, and was surprised to see a female's shoes at his door post. "Did she not leave?" He muttered under his breath, slightly pissed out. He walked in and met Laura, half—dressed, sitting comfortably on the couch, her gaze on the big screen in his sitting room. She might have not noticed his presence or maybe decided to ignore him, whichever it was, David did not care. "Why are you still here?" He blurted out repulsively, walking closer towards her. "The last time I remembered, I asked you to leave before dawn. So, what changed?" "Hey, David, you're back..." Laura replied instead, ignoring his rants, a bright smile on her face as she stood up and walked up to him. She had wanted to give him a hug but he shunned her, bruising her ego. "Something wrong?" "Why are you still here?" He repeated, his voice void and cold. "I hate it when people don't know when to stop and not cross the line, I clearly told you I don't want to meet you here." "Hey, you're making this sound really serious." Laura uttered, her tone laced with slight worry. "Did I do something wrong? Did someone pissed you off on your way?" But David ignored her, his cold face doing the reply. "Talk to me, okay? What's happened, David?" She didn't know why she's concern, but she felt she needed to be worried about his sudden change of attitude. "We can resolve this, uh...?" "Stop pestering me, Laura, just get dressed and leave. I need to be alone." He enunciated coldly and walked past her. "I don't want to repeat myself, Laura, your presence is disturbing." "You want to be alone?" She snickered, sarcasm laced in her tone. "Did you regret your actions now? Did the fact that she left without a word hurt you that much?" David turned towards her, anger in his eyes. "I don't understand whatever you mean — and I don't regret anything." He was blunt, fuming. "I was just mooching off her to start with, why should I regret it? She's at lost for losing me, no one would ever want a dumb lady like her." Laura couldn't help but chuckle. "She's at lost, eh? Can you still say you don't regret anything even after you see what I'm about to show you?" She asked, a sly smile tugging at the corner of her lips, earning a raised brows from David. "Can you still be this confident?" David's anger was replaced with curiosity. "What do you mean, Laura?" He blurted out repulsively, his intense gaze on her. "You better speak in a language I'll understand and stop beating around." "See this..." She enounced, pointing towards the television, David's eyes followed the direction she had pointed. "Isn't that Sarah, no?" "Why is she suddenly on the news?" He asked, unable to comprehend what Laura was trying to make him understand. "Was she caught doing something illegal? That's unlike her!" "Did you not see the headline? Can't you read?" Laura was pissed and she did not bother hiding it. "Sarah is the new first lady, she got married to the president after she left you stranded on the altar. No wonder she left you!" David's eyes widened in surprise, his anger slowly building up. "How dare her?" He fumed in a hoarse voice, a low grunt escaping his lips. He couldn't deny the hurt he felt in his heart, despite his anger, the pain was vivid. "How dare her dump me for an old wretched man?" Laura shook her head negatively. "Sorry, but the president isn't old and he's heavily loaded too." She corrected his last phrase. "That little sly witch, this was her plan all along. I wonder since when she's been planning all these." David felt betrayed. Sarah had left him for the president after luring him to the altar — all of these was just to make fun of him while he look like a fool? "What's so special about the president?" He blabbed angrily, his fist clenched. "What is it that he have that I don't, eh?" "Lots of things, David." Laura replied, even though she knew his question was rhetorical. "He's got the face, money and even power! Sarah must have tricked him into marrying her, because what's so special about that b***h anyway? The president must be out of his mind to choose her, no sane man will." "Are you really sure that woman is Sarah?" David asked, hoping all of these wasn't really but a false news. "I mean, she might just be Sarah's doppelganger and this is something happening coincidentally." "Is the name also a coincidence?" Laura asked, her nose twitched almost in disgust. "Are you this dumb to call all these a coincidence? Does it even sound sane to you?" "But this can't be real as well, Laura!" David was refusing to accept the reality — refusing to admit he's the one at loss; it was supposed to be the other way round. "How hell did she meet the president in the first place, isn't he supposed to be a busy man?" "Beats me too..." Laura muffled out with a sigh afterward. "That b***h is really a pretence. Arrgh, I can't believe how despicable she is. Don't you think there's something we should do about this? We can't let her live in luxury, not after what she's done to you!" David's face lit up. "She needs to pay the price that comes with being a betrayal." He countered, his facial expression was replaced with a dark grin. "I really need to prepare a sweet surprise for her, no?" Laura nodded positively in response. "Not just sweet but something she will feel the weight of it as well to spice things up." She added, earning a smirk from David. "Did you think of something already?" David snickered. "I think I have the right amount of dose she'll be needing... Something to shake her greatly..."
