Charles promises

It's 5am sharp, the alarm rings loudly this time, Rebecca forgot to reduce her volume before going to sleep.

She stared at her grandmother, said a little prayer and went to the restroom to get ready for work.

She got back, already changed in her work attire.

A nurse was there already, running a check-up on grandma and administering the needed medicine for recovery. The nurse stared at Rebecca, as they both exchanged greetings.

"Nurse, I won't be available for a while, what can my grandma eat" Rebecca asked.

"For now, not something too solid, and don't worry, the hospital will take care of her still you get back" Nurse responded.

"Thank you nurse" Rebecca appreciated.

"Our priority is to make sure the patient is fine and that's what I'm doing, I'll be leaving you two now" Nurse said as she leaves.

Rebecca stared at her grandma, "I'll go get you something, you can't have medicine on an empty stomach"

She quickly rushed out to the canteen beside the hospital and got food for her grandma, she feed her and left immediately her grandmother slept off.

The city was already busy, Rebecca is on her way to work. She stared at the beautiful sky and smiled.

She wished her life will bloom like the sky one day.

The sky was blooming, the little sunrise made the blue cloud thicker, and the white was mixed with part of the sun, which made it more beautiful.

The sun kissed it.

Rebecca boarded a taxi inorder to get early. She reached by 9:30am.

She quickly rushed inside and wore her apron, picked up the Shop name tag

"Apple coffee shop " and placed it where people will see it and with the "we are open " tag on the door.

She got back to her work stand, checked the store order system, and started accepting orders, and attending to customers.

"Phone rings"

She checked, it was charles again. She had to excuse herself..

Missing his call is a disaster to her, she dares not.

"Charles" she called out.

"Haven't heard from you about my ten thousand dollars" Charles said, clicking his fingers.

"That's why you're calling" she asked in fear.

"What do you mean, i just asked a simple question, when am i getting it?" He sounded pissed.

He's always like this, always getting angry when it's not necessary.

"Charles, i told you about my grandma" She said "and moreover I'm at work, i might get fired for this" she added.

"I don't care, that old woman, who is suppose to die, why should i care about her"

He said without remorse. "You used ten thousand dollars, to bring her back to life, after knowing how much, i needed that money" he fired.

"But she's important to me, if you care about me, you should for her too"

"You know i care about you, i just need money for this business, i promise baby, when i get rich I'll spoil you princess"

"I don't have that Charles, my school wants to drop my admission, if i don't pay"

"Let them do, it's just admission, you can apply next time, but this business, is important to me and will be beneficial for both of us"

"Charles" She called out.

"Babe, i need that money, you know I'm not used to working, i just need a business where people will work for me"

"That's not how things work"

"Don't lecture me, and find that money"

"Charles listen"

Call ends.

Rebecca stares at her phone, ten thousand dollars, he didn't even care about her admission again, she remembered when she gave him her tuition fee for a whole semester inorder for him to start up a business but it failed, he didn't even start it, he came up with excuses.

She remembered how he promised to marry her after the investments but now he's asking for more.

Even when she said she was going to keep her virginity, he supported her and promised not to touch her.

She stared at the floor and cried. She needs to get this money for Charles.

She didn't want to lose him.
