Milia, now in her own space in the gallery, was in intense thought. “What were you thinking, Milia?” she said to herself. “Why did you behave that way when you saw him half naked? Maybe because he's too handsome” she said with a little smile. She was lost in thought as she didn't notice David who was right at her door. “Hmm hmm” David shocked her as he caught her attention. Milia whirled around, relief washing over her features. "David! You have it?" He nodded, his gaze filled with concern. "I do. But before I give it to you, I want to make sure you understand the gravity of this information. It could change everything." His words struck a chord within her. Change everything? Was she ready for what that might mean? The fire in her eyes flickered momentarily, replaced by a flicker of doubt. "I know it will," she said, her voice barely a whisper. "But I need to know, David. I need to see this through. For my parents, for the lives destroyed, for the truth." Her voice gained strength, her resolve returning. David saw the determination etched on her face, the unyielding spirit that fueled her art. He knew further warnings would be futile. He approached her, his hand outstretched. "Alright, then. But remember, once you open this door, there's no turning back." Milia reached out, her fingers trembling slightly as she accepted the envelope. It felt heavy, not just with paper, but with secrets, burdens, and the weight of her choices. "I won't," she said, her voice firm. "This is just the beginning, David. The truth will see the light, no matter the cost." As she carefully peeled open the envelope, a sense of anticipation hummed in the air. The information within held the potential to shake the very foundations of her world, to expose the darkness that lurked beneath the surface. The worn photograph clutched in her hand - her parents, Victor Thorne by their side, beaming with hope - crackled with irony. "Chance discovery," she scoffed to herself, the bitterness evident in her voice. She knew better. Each piece led her deeper into the labyrinth of Thorne Enterprises, fueled not just by grief, but by a burning need for the truth. Milia traced the digital signature on the document, a name she recognized, a face from childhood shrouded in secrecy. This wasn't just about Victor; it was about uncovering a conspiracy that stretched far beyond him, a system rigged against the very people her art fought for. Milia met his gaze, her expression hardened. "This changes everything," she said, her voice raspy with the weight of revelation. "This isn't just about exposing Victor's greed; it's about dismantling a web of corruption woven into the very fabric of this city." David's eyes widened. "This goes deeper than we imagined," he murmured, his voice laced with apprehension. "Are you prepared for the consequences, Milia? This could be dangerous." "I know," she said, her resolve unwavering. "But the alternative is silence, complicity. My parents wouldn't have stood for that, and neither will I.” “I need to confront Victor as soon as possible,” Milia said as she turned up and looked at David, “but how” David asked. “I collected his business card when I dropped him at his hotel room,” she said “I'll be off now see you later, and before I forget, help me lock up, I called Sofia she’ll be here to help you shortly”. “I appreciate your help, thank you,” she said as she rushed to catch a taxi. As she got into the taxi, she stared at the file, no longer with suspicion, but with a spark of curiosity. It represented a path fraught with danger, a gamble with consequences she couldn't fully grasp. But for the first time, Milia saw it not just as a weapon against an enemy, but as a potential key, a chance to peel back the layers and expose the truth, no matter where it led. The file held the truth, a weapon with the potential to ignite a revolution, but who would wield it, and at what cost?
