Viviana had sincerely believed things would be better. She remembered staring at Matteo on Sunday, thinking 'things are going to be better now.' Now all she felt was a familiar pang in her stomach every night when Matteo told her he would be late. It was Thursday, and again, like every other night, he had told her he would not be coming home until well after she would be in bed. Usually, this meant around midnight and Viviana did not care to wait up for him. Tonight, it was closer to 3AM and Matteo hadn't arrived. He hadn't called either except to tell her not to wait up.
