Ok so my parents were acting kinda weird but I guess nothings as Weird as what's happening to me today. I went up the stairs and into my room. I was still contemplating on taking a bath fearing for the worst that might happen considering all the weird things I've been through today. Still in my trance, I heard some strange voices and strange words I couldn't quite understand. Now I was sure I've gone crazy. I wanted to run out and tell my parents what was going on this time but I couldn't get my door to open. I wanted to scream but I couldn't find my voice, my body suddenly went weak. I felt a wave I couldn't quite explain, my head felt light and I liked the feeling. Slowly my body went limb and I felt myself collapse to the floor. Finally my eyes shut on its accord and I thought it as the end as my mind went blank.....

As soon as Kaytie went up the stairs, Mr and Mrs Hayes considered telling Kaytie about her origin but decided against it. The Hayes family are among the people blessed with magical powers making them Mages. Kaytie's great great great great great grand dad saw the need for a special academy for all mages so they could learn to control their powers and blend in well with normal humans. The school has been handed down from generation to generation and it was presently in authority of Kaytie's parents. All mages are born with their powers thought some reveals itself from birth while others, their powers reveal itself from the ages ranging 5-10. But in Kaytie's case it was different, her powers did not reveal itself at her birth nor when she was at the ages ranging from 5-10, so her parents had even lost all hope that she was a mage. They were very surprised when she told them what weird things were happening to her that they didn't even know how to go about the situation.In all generations, she is the very first mage whose powers revealed itself when she's almost 18.

Kaytie's father suggested they tell her about her origin when she's finally 18. Though her powers only revealed itself today but all mages have a better control of their powers when they clock 18 becoming young adults. Mr Hayes thought of a plan instead on how to keep her out of trouble until it's her birthday which was 2 days from now. He decided to make the entire house magic proof till it's her birthday, that way her powers will be locked inside her until her birthday. But then a sudden thought hit him.

"But Emily we can't exactly magic proof the entire country, what if she goes out" - he asks his wife feeling desperate.

After thinking for a short while, she comes up with an idea.

"Idea!" - she screams

"What's that?"

"Remember the spell we used whenever we wanted to skip a class back at the academy?"

"Yh the illment spell"

"We could make use of it"

"How's that gonna help us? are we tryna act sick or wat?" - he says obviously frustrated. She's chuckles slowly before she responded to him.

"No silly, we'll use the spell on her, that way she'll stay home till it's her birthday"

"That's a great idea honey, you see that's why I married you, you're way too smart for your own good". - he says and they both laugh at his joke, he plants a small peck on her cheeks and they both ran upstairs making their way to Kaytie's room. Standing outside her room, they chant the illment spell while Kaytie felt her whole body drop to the floor as the impact of the spell hits her.

Kaytie's POV

I woke up to a dead feeling, was I dead or alive I couldn't quite tell, I felt numb all over. I slowly opened my eyes, I was still in my room, only difference was that my room was very much arranged and neat compared to how I last remembered it. Now that it was well cleaned it really looked heavenly and beautiful. It almost appeared like everything had a certain glimmer, glamour, glitter and shine to it. And I was on my bed well tucked under my blanket, it really did feel heavenly. Wait what? I was on my bed?..... How am I on my bed? Last I remembered I fell to the floor. Maybe I am really dead and am in heaven now. I could also be a ghost maybe I could walk through walls now. I rushed out of my bed excited to be a ghost 'mental eye roll with a big smirk', I ran into the nearest wall hoping to pass through but well turns out ghost can't walk through walls. I live a lie #hunted hathaway. 'internal face palm'. What? you weren't expecting me to do a real one that will be like adding a knife to an already injured back.

"Ouch" - I yelped a little louder than I intended, I could finally feel the impact of the bump, did ghost feel pains. Just then I heard footsteps run up the stairs and into my room, of course I wasn't dead, I confirmed that as my parents came in squeezing me in a hug that would probably kill me if I wasn't dead already. Yk they could also be dead 'wink'.

"Hey fairy, how' you doing now"

"Is that question even necessarily for a ghost?" - I blurted out wanted to confirm my logic".

"Umm sweetie, what re u talking about?"

"We're not dead are we?....... " - I said with a look that says am literally foolish, while my parents stared blankly at me confused so I continued.

"Oh well last I remembered was my scattered room and falling on the floor but I woke up to a beautiful room and on my bed".

"Oh that.... " - was all my dad could mutter

"Well sweetie, what happened is that we came up to check on you and found you on the floor, you had quite a fever, so we laid you on your bed, tended to your fever then tidied your room. so we suggest you take some rest for some few days. "

"Oh that explains a lot" - that confirms am not dead and am not a ghost so maybe my life isn't a complete lie, 'internal face palm'. What? my head still hurts, and right the numbness I feel must be a result of the fall and fever.

"Kaytie" - my fathers voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Are you alright sweetie, you kinda blanked out" - mom said, each wearing a worried expression.

"Umm yh, you were saying?"

"We think it's best you take a break from school for a short while, at least until you're better".

" Dad are you for real?" No school for me until am better 'internal happy dance'.

"Yes fairy, now how bout you go take a rest and we'll grab you something to eat".

" Ok dad" Just before they left I added

"And thanks fr the room, it's well.... it's really...... you know glittering, almost look magical"

My mom and dad shared a short look with extreme gleam and excitement in their eyes, you couldn't miss it then my mom looked at me a smile tugging at her lips.

"it's our pleasure sweetie" - She said and they rushed out. I smiled at their weirdness. Don't I just love em, I jumped to my bed and snuggled myself to sleep. I plan on enjoying this break as much as I can.
