Dawn in Paris and Helena was still sleeping soundly in Ray's strong arms... which for him was a tremendous test of fire, having her by his side and not being able to do anything.
During sleep, she would pick him up by accident, from rubbing his chest to clinging to her "friend", who was just as aroused by the touch of her hands as he was. And to make matters worse, she was still moaning...
Ray turned her onto her side very slowly so as not to wake her and leave. The moment he did, she stretched, rubbing herself against him. He just looked up and thought aloud, "Dios mio, if I don't go to heaven after this, the Lord will have to deal with me!"
As soon as he managed to sit on the edge of the bed, he heard her voice:
— Were you leaving without saying goodbye to me?
When he turned around, she was already awake, but still lying there, looking and smiling at him. And even though she was disheveled and wearing those pajamas, which he thought were very childish, Ray still thought she was beautiful.
— Bonjour mon amour! (Good morning my love) — Helena said smiling at him. She stood up and held out her arms, asking for a hug. He went to meet her.
— Buen día mi amor! (Good morning my love).
They exchanged a peck. She loved it when he did that and he loved doing it to her too.
— Did you sleep well, chica?
— Yes, and thank you for taking me in. You are a great pillow.
He laughed at her comparison. He wanted to say it overnight, she got the hang of it, but she was afraid of embarrassing her, so she didn't say anything.
— Are you hungry, chica?
She nodded. She loved it when he called her chica. "La Chica de Paris".
— Okay, so wait here. I'm going to the emporium to buy some things for our coffee, unless you want to have coffee on the street...
— Oh no, I'll wait right here.
— Okay then, I'll be right back!
When he came back from the street with the groceries, he found her on the couch in front of her laptop and texting on w******p. She was already changed and the bed made.
— Did I delay?
— Oh no... do you want help setting the table?
— Oh no, I already brought everything ready, just sit down and eat. — He said going straight to the kitchen. Even so, she went after him to help and was delighted with what she saw. He had asked to make a breakfast worthy of a five-star hotel, with the most varied types of bread, cold cuts and fruits.
— Wow, what's all this for? Are more people coming for coffee?
— Well, I don't know what you like, so I asked you to improve the food.
What he really wanted was to score points with her. They sat down to have coffee. There was so much she didn't even know where to start. She even talked to him. And she gaped at his suggestion.
— Start with you.
Helena just looked at him, wondering what he meant by that.
— What do you mean 'for me'?
— Last night, you said that in order to judge, I should get to know you better. We can do that now, unless you want to wait until later.
— OK. She said already cutting a croissant and getting some thin slices of cheese and ham. It wasn't that difficult: — And what would you like to know from me, Mr. Ramon Enrique Acevedo Kerkadó?
He chuckled at the fact that she remembered his full name.
— I know your name is Helena and you came to visit a friend of yours who lives here in Paris, with another friend. But I want to know who the girl really is behind the chica in the red nightgown I saw through the window.
— Well, my name is Helena Petropoulos. And before you ask me, my surname is of Greek origin. I am a descendant of Greek immigrants, both on my father's side and on my mother's side. But my real Greek is my grandmother, Constantina Vardalos Petropoulos, a refugee from the Second World War.
— You must be quite a woman...I would love to meet you.
— Oh, but she really is. Suffering horrors in that damned war and arriving in an unknown land to start a new life wasn't easy, but she managed it.
Helena was filled with pride when talking about her grandmother. How she adored her.
— And you, what do you do? Do you work? Do you study...
"Now comes the worst part!" She thought.
— I am an accountant. I work with cost accounting in a Japanese multinational with a branch in Brazil.
She could already imagine what was going through his head at that moment, that she's too pretty to work with costs. Since working in the field, Helena has always heard mean comments about the fact that beautiful women are not smart. She was bullied at school because she was one of the best students. She only got a job because she was pretty. She even resigned because she couldn't stand the pressure of a boss or other employee. And when she went to work at Shinguen S / A, even though it was for the position of apprentice, she almost got fired just for being a woman, even though she got an excellent result.
— I know what you're thinking.
— What? — Ray asked, snapping out of her trance.
— You also find it strange that a woman works in industrial accounting. Okay, most people think the same thing...
It wasn't exactly what he was thinking... but that he was facing an empowered woman and would have to use every weapon he had, plus the spare ones to win that chica. Realizing that Helena was sad when she told him about the problems her profession presents, at least for her, he tried to cheer her up.
— Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know what the costs would be...but I'd really like you to explain it to me.
Helena just looked at him, wondering if this was serious.
— I don't know another professional who can explain it to me. And from what I understand, you are very knowledgeable on the subject.
So, at Ray's request, she began to explain about cost accounting, from when it gained importance in the Industrial Revolution to terminology in industrial terms. And of course he didn't understand much, but since he wanted to make her happy, he just nodded.
And of course Helena knew he wasn't understanding anything, even though he explained it in a way she could understand. But she was so glad he'd listened to her.
— Look on the bright side, you've kind of given a certain beauty to the profession. And I don't know if that's any consolation, but you're the most beautiful accountant I've ever seen.
— Ah thank you. It's very rare for me to hear a compliment...
— But is. You, in addition to beautiful, are powerful and warrior.
Hearing this, she started to laugh. It was her and her friends' motto.
— What is it? he asked, amazed at her fit of laughter.
— Nothing... — She tried to explain, holding back a laugh: — It's just that you said a motto that my friends and I always talk about... And thanks again.
When they stopped in between the conversation, the two looked at each other. She was smiling at him. And he loved it when she smiled. She wanted to spend her whole life making her smile.
— Do you have any appointments for today?" — He asked.
— Oh no. I really wanted to spend the day with you guys, because Fashion Week starts this week, so I'll be kind of busy.
— Okay, so the day is ours alone. Can I take you for a walk around town?
— Yes, I accept to walk with you.
