The morning brought rain. Not a heavy downpour but the sort of drizzle that soaked you in seconds. However, the sky was blue with just a few patches of rain-bearing clouds. The English detective walked into the police precinct, where he was met with the sort of stares that burn straight through you. ‘Morning,’ he greeted the desk Sergeant, though he did not expect a response. ‘Friendly bunch,’ he muttered under his breath. As he left the elevator, the mood was chilling. Everyone stared at Steel as though he had just murdered a cop, not saved one.
