CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE Inside the Operations Room, Brant and the others watched in desperation as the ship released a bellow of smoke in preparation to depart. Brant grabbed his phone, scowled at it for a brief moment and then shoved it back into his pocket. ‘Find me a secure line,’ he ordered. Everyone searched for a landline phone that was still functioning and had not been ripped out. ‘Will this do?’ asked Sergeant North. They spun round to face him and his second-in-command. He was offering his phone in an outstretched hand, looking guilty and ashamed.
