Elena
The world tilts.
Everything is dark.
My head throbs, my body feels heavy, and for a moment, I can’t remember where I am.
Then it hits me.
The balcony. The hand over my mouth. The rush of cold air as I was dragged outside.
I jolt awake, my pulse spiking.
I’m not in Alexander’s penthouse anymore.
I’m in a car.
The seat beneath me is rough. My wrists are tied, and the scent of leather and cheap cologne fills my nose.
Panic slams into me like a tidal wave.
I try to move, but something tightens around my arms. Rope.
My breathing turns ragged.
Where am I? Who
A voice breaks the silence.
"Finally awake, sweetheart?"
I freeze.
The man in the driver’s seat chuckles. "Thought we might’ve hit you too hard."
My stomach twists.
Slowly, I lift my head, my vision still blurry. The car is moving, headlights cutting through the darkness.
Two men sit in the front.
I recognize one of them instantly.
One of Roman’s thugs.
Oh God.
I try to keep my voice steady. "Where are you taking me?"
The man in the passenger seat turns slightly, his grin sharp. "Relax. The boss just wants to have a little chat."
My blood runs cold.
Roman.
I tug at my bindings, my heart pounding.
I need to think. I need to get out of here.
I glance at the door handle. Locked. Of course.
The driver chuckles again. "Ain’t no point in trying to escape, darling."
I swallow hard. "Alexander will come for me."
The man in the passenger seat laughs. "That rich bastard? Oh, I hope he does."
Something about the way he says it makes my stomach twist.
They want Alexander to come.
Which means this isn’t just about me.
It’s about him too.
I take a slow breath, forcing myself to stay calm.
I can’t panic. I need to stall.
"Why does Roman care so much about me?" I ask, keeping my voice steady.
The driver shrugs. "Dunno. Something about unfinished business."
The passenger smirks. "Maybe he just likes collecting pretty little things."
Disgust rolls through me.
I glare at him. "Tell Roman if he touches me, I’ll rip his throat out."
He barks a laugh. "Oh, I like you."
The driver sighs. "Shut up and drive, man. We’re almost there."
My pulse spikes.
I don’t have much time.
I need to get out now.
Alexander
I knew something was wrong the second I stepped back into the room.
The silence was too deep.
The air was too still.
Then I saw the open balcony door.
And I knew.
"She’s gone."
Rage burns through my veins.
Lucas stands beside me, jaw tight, phone pressed to his ear. "Nothing yet. We’re tracking her."
I clench my fists. "Find her."
Lucas nods. "We will."
But it’s not enough.
It’s not fast enough.
A muscle ticks in my jaw as I force myself to breathe.
Roman took her.
Of course, he did.
He’s been waiting for an excuse to come after me.
And now, he has one.
I turn sharply. "Get the car."
Lucas hesitates. "Alexander"
"Now."
Lucas sighs but doesn’t argue.
Because he knows.
There’s nothing that will stop me from getting her back.
Nothing.
Elena
The car jerks to a stop.
I tense.
The doors unlock.
"End of the road, sweetheart," the thug in the passenger seat says with a grin.
The driver gets out first.
I squeeze my hands into fists, my nails biting into my palms.
I have to be ready.
The passenger reaches for me—
And I move.
I twist sharply, bringing my tied hands up and slamming my elbow into his throat.
He chokes, falling back.
I don’t waste a second.
I throw myself toward the door, shoving it open with my shoulder.
I hit the ground hard, rolling onto my side.
Pain shoots up my arms, but I push through it.
I scramble to my feet and bolt.
"Get her!"
I don’t look back.
I sprint toward the trees, my breath ragged.
The ropes cut into my wrists, but I don’t care.
I need to move.
I need to
A hand yanks my hair, dragging me back.
I scream, kicking wildly.
The thug curses, tightening his grip. "You little"
A gun c***s.
The sound is sharp. Deadly.
The thug freezes.
So do I.
A deep, familiar voice slices through the air.
"Touch her again, and you die."
My breath catches.
Alexander.
I twist my head, my heart hammering.
He stands at the edge of the trees, dressed in all black, a gun aimed directly at my captor’s head.
His eyes burn with fury.
Everything inside me twists.
The thug swallows. "Blackwood"
A shot fires.
Not a kill shot. Just a warning.
The thug flinches, his grip on me loosening.
I don’t hesitate.
I rip myself free and stumble toward Alexander.
He catches me easily, pulling me against his chest.
"Are you hurt?" he murmurs, his voice low.
I shake my head, but I can’t stop shaking.
His arm tightens around me.
Then, slowly, he lifts the gun again.
The thug stares at him, hands raised.
"You don’t have to do this, man," he stammers.
Alexander tilts his head, completely calm. "Yes, I do."
Another shot rings out.
The thug drops.
Silence.
I can’t breathe.
Alexander tucks the gun away and looks down at me.
His gaze takes over my face like he’s checking for any sign of injury.
Then, without warning, he lifts me into his arms.
My breath catches. "I can walk"
"Be quiet, Elena," he murmurs.
His voice is different.
Darker.
I shiver, burying my face in his chest as he carries me toward the waiting car.
His grip is firm. Unyielding.
And I know, without a doubt
He’s never letting me go again.
Cliffhanger!
What I added to make this even better:
More action – Elena fights back, but she’s still overpowered.
More tension – Alexander is furious, possessive, and deadlier than ever.
Rescue scene – High stakes, gunfire, raw emotion.
Power shift – Alexander’s control over Elena just tightened.
Big cliffhanger – What happens now that she’s back in his arms?
