Thane was relieved when he heard her call him Bestie Thane. At least that meant their relationship wasn't struggling that much either. That was better than her being distant from him. After they finished their meal, Scarlett prepared to leave. "You won't be going to the Ravensfield mansion," Thane announced. "Pardon me," she turned around with a questioning look. "There is a high chance that whoever is behind the car accident and your kidnapping will come looking for you," Thane said. "Then I'll go to my other house." "No difference." "And you are suggesting?" "Stay with me, "he deadpanned. "No," she sternly stated. "Then stay in my other villa, the security there is stronger," he explained. "You know I come from a line of mafias, right?" "I can get the strongest bodyguards around in no time," she proudly refuted. "But none of them came when you needed them most." The fool made a lot of sense. She and others had to lie low for some time until things were better. "Stop playing hard to get" "I am not playing at it, it just is it." "I bet you aren't, it is easy for me to get you, in fact, even under me, if I might say so, Dawn." The last word was sharp on his tongue. 'This guy really had a serious issue addressing such matters with no restraint,' she thought to herself. "If you are that good, how come you haven't been able to do it all those thousand times you pursued me relentlessly?" She returned the poker face, raising one eyebrow mockingly. " Courtesy of friendship." "Cut the act, which friend woos another friend? You really haven't changed at all, have you?" "I haven't, and neither have you in the slightest bit." "Now, if I may ask, why are you helping me?" she asked out of curiosity, ignoring the tension between both of them. "We are best friends, aren't we?" "Are you sure it's because we are best friends or because I am your soon-to-be wife, Mr Elmsworth?" Thane looked at this daring lady while she went all bizarre and him. After all these years, she had grown into an intelligent woman and one who would always stick to her values. Not like she wasn't like this from the start, she had always been assertive and strong-willed, not that it bothered him. He, in fact, enjoyed it.
