After a few minutes, the nurse came in.
"How can I be of help, ma'am? "She asked politely.
"Take off the drip, I need to leave," she commanded.
"I'm really sorry, but I can't," she said apologetically.
"And why is that?" she fumed at her.
"You need all the medication to run through your system, and besides, Sir, asked that you make a full recovery," she said.
"The drip should be done in about an hour," she added.
"Is that sir, you?" she demanded while she angrily looked in Thane's direction,, who only gave her a sly smile.
"And what right does he have to say so ?"
"Technically, he saved your life, and he is your soon-to-be fiancé." the nurse said in a concerning manner.
"Fiance!! Hey, what are you telling the public?" Scarlett looked at him like he was some mad man.
"We were betrothed to each other, so it's bound to happen sooner or later, "Thane casually explained.
"You are sick in the head." She said to him through gritted teeth and glared furiously at him.
The nurse found herself useless and chose to get out rather than get stuck in their childish banter.
Thane raised his head with his index finger supporting his chin and stared in her deep hazel eyes .
"Sick, you say?" he sarcastically said in his eloquently spoken English.
Scarlett didn't have time to play mind games with him. And besides, she figured that she still felt weak.
A little medication wouldn't hurt. Feeling that her mouth was sour, she turned to the big guy sitting by his side.
He was staring at her. She almost jumped in shock.
"Hey, quit that, it's creepy," she said.
" Can't help it if you are this beautiful," he said and poked her face.
"Could you please buy me fresh fruit juice?" she said, avoiding his lovey-dovey actions.
Thane walked out, and she couldn't help but wonder why she had never noticed this side of Thane. The determined him.
They had grown up together since her diaper days. Their mothers were close friends and Thane was four years older than her.
Thane had always been a quiet and good-looking boy. He was good at school. He had always been sweet, kind and patient with her.
Despite being good in school, Scarlett was the total opposite. Spoiled, bratty and strong-willed.
She liked spending her time with him, but at one point, her mother died. Although they used to check in on her often, she was very depressed.
At times, he was never around since he needed to attend business school. Creating distance.
But even then, they remained friends. Out of spite, she ended up having a relationship with Wirtz and told herself that she liked him. It was a way to kill the pain and loneliness within her.
And she believed it was working for her, but was it?
