Scarlett smiled and looked awkwardly at Thane in an attempt to act casual and ignore the anger that was radiating off of him. She regarded this as the most awkward moment she had had in years now.
THE FUGDE!!. She yelled inwardly to herself. Her goddamned mouth just couldn't shut up.
"BREATH, DON'T LOOK AT HIM, HE IS ALSO HUMAN, JUST ACT CHILL," she continued with her inner battle, but things were anything but chill. In fact, she was becoming hot from all the overwhelming emotion.
"Oh my, Scar!" Scarlett turned in the direction of the sound and saw her two friends scurry to her side.
"Prude!, Suzie!" Scarlett called out their names in astonishment.
"Sorry, we came late," Prudence Elmsworth, the dramatic one of the trio, said. She wore a pink checked denim miniskirt, a matching top, and a women's suit, looking like she had walked out of Paris Fashion Week.
"Are you hurting anywhere?" Suzanne Schelmer, the charismatic and soft-spoken one of the trio, asked, concerned. She wore a white long-sleeved top and a pencil skirt with a beige trench coat draped over her shoulders.
" I am... fine. I... don't know. What are you doing here?" she asked, staggering in her speech. She was welcome to this small distraction. Gladly, they came before she could embarrass herself any further.
" She hit her head so hard that she barely remembers us," Prudence said, scowling her face.
"Silly, we are your two beloveds. Obviously, we had to come and check on you." Suzanne said while she arched her.
Scarlett was still tomato red from her earlier awkwardness and embarrassment and was smiling sheepishly at them.
" Oh my, I think it's worse than we think. Call the nurse in real quick," Suzanne told Prudence whilst she nudged her hurriedly.
"Sure, yeah... let me get to it." Prudence crumbled to the other side to get the hospital call box.
"I am fine, really, you needn't call the nurse. I remember you guys, you are Prudence, you like to club, you have dated half the male population of Gnaw city, you talk in your sleep and think every guy is a d**k head. And you are Suzanne, you are deathly serious but soft-spoken. You haven't had your first kiss yet. You have barely dated in two years. Regardless, you still buy yourself lingerie. " You love trying out different wines," Scarlett said, everything in one go, trying to prove to them that she is just fine.
"Wow, you really know us too well, Scar. You scared us there, girl." Both girls, as if on cue, ran to her side and hugged her tight.
" Please don't scare us like that ever again."
They stayed like that, hugging each other for six full minutes. Whoever was listening to them cry their hearts out really had tolerant ears because their sobs were like a fleet of screeching tyres. And that was none other than Thane.
*****AFTER THE EYEPOUR****
"How did you know I was here?"
"Well, I called several times this morning, and you wouldn't pick up my calls. And then it finally went through, but a police officer picked it up and said it had been found at a crime scene, and he couldn't share any more information, so I prayed, and here we are," Suzanne explained.
"And then she let me know, and I came too," Prudence concluded.
"Thanks to the Samaritan who brought you here. We should probably thank him, "Prudence said thoughtfully.
"Do you know who it is? We should check the hospital's reception; they should have it," Suzanne suggested.
"Don't bother." Scarlett raised her arms in surrender. And then pointed. Both friends didn't know what was happening, so they followed her line of sight, and they saw.
What the freaking daylights? Hasn't this guy disappeared for ages?
