CHAPTER 7:FOREVER GRATEFUL

"Hurry up, let's leave, quick," Scarlett urged the driver. They got out real quick and started looking for ways to escape. The driver saw some life jackets neatly placed in the cabin's drawers, and removed two of them and handed one to Scarlett. Scarlett took two more from the drawers and handed one to the driver. "Extra safety," she curtly said. "What do you mean?" he asked, perplexed. Scarlett didn't have time to explain, so she ignored him and decided to go ahead on cue. He followed suit. One of their captures saw them and shouted to the other goons as he pointed towards the direction they ran to. "Hey, hurry, they escaped. I saw them run over there ." "Run faster, they will find us," Scarlett said as she ran far ahead. The driver also caught up to the pace, and they ran up the veranda of the yacht. The wind blew profusely in all directions, causing their hair to fly everywhere. The howl of the wind grew louder, and it started threatening to rain with thunder rumbling in the skies and a drizzle. "They are about to catch up to us," the driver said while he locked the door to keep them from coming out. "Well, we have no choice," Scarlett said analytically while she picked up a big metal rod from the floor and sternly uttered. "WE FIGHT" He couldn't believe his ears!!! The always bratty heiress was now this strong-willed and determined. He couldn't say more. There was no other choice besides fighting, either. Within no time, four men walked in bearing knives.' Fools, planning to curb me with a knife.' Scarlett thought to herself. In no time, she swung the metal in her hand and hit one of the men. The driver also moved into action, and they started fighting. Hitting, dodging, uppercuts and more came in handy. At that moment, Scarlett was very grateful that her father had been a bit strict with her during phys-ed class. After all the men were down, one came out of nowhere and hit the driver hard on the head, causing him to collapse and lunged at Scarlett with a knife at a great speed . It all happened so fast for her to even escape and the next thing she knew, she had been stabbed. She felt a warm fluid flow from her stomach. Looking down, it was blood. In an attempt to dodge the next attack, she fell into the lake with a loud splash of water. Scarlett felt the icy cold water sip through her skin and bone. Her breath was strained with the water filling her lungs. She struggled with all her might . She raised her hand in an attempt to hold onto something. Out of breath, she went numb, starting to slowly give up. She felt helpless, weak and pitiful. She hated these feelings the most, having no one beside you. The feeling of walls closing in on you. She didn't want to die at this moment. She still had a life to live. While she felt her life wither, she couldn't help but think of the line. "Death knows no man." Even the life jacket seemed useless. With that, she shut her eyes and braced herself for her fate as she slowly sank in. Well, fate had different plans for her. She felt a large, warm, tight hold on her, pulling her out. She was carried bridal style out of the lake, and in her hazy state, she couldn't see the person clearly since she had lost a lot of blood. She would be forever grateful to them.
