Scarlett could feel a strong pair of arms carrying her amidst her drowsiness.
She fought with her sight to make out the figure of the person, but she couldn't see them either.
There was too much wind created by the helicopter propellers, causing the person's hair to blow in every direction.
She faintly heard as he spoke to the pilot in an authoritative tone.
"Fly back fast, she needs urgent treatment."
She figured it was a man since the voice sounded like a male's.
The sound created by the propellers was deafeningly loud.
Thane rested Scarlett on his chest and kept peppering her with kisses all over her face.
Now and then, he would rub his palms together to heat them up and then spread them on her frail body in an attempt to warm her up.

Scarlett was running in a deep blue forest being chased by the only man she had ever loved, Wirtz Smirknoff. They had been together since high school.
She was frightened, cold and alone.
He was red with anger, chasing her like a raging beast. She was utterly confused about what was going on.
Everywhere was dark and scary. It was as though she were being hunted. Hiding in a huge tree, she stopped to hold her breath.
Cautiously observing her environment, she walked a few steps before tripping on a pile of sticks and falling into a huge pit.
She closed her eyes and braced herself for the pain, but it didn't come. Opening her eyes to see, she realised she was still falling.
Endless Abyss.
As she continued with her falling, she saw light at the end. It was so blinding. A masculine hand came through, pulling her out.
Causing her to remember the phrase
'THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL'
The person kept calling her name.
'Dawn'
'Dawn, are you alright?'
Only two people dared call her that name. Her father and her best friend.
Since her father was badly hit in an accident, there was only one suspect: her best friend.
Her best friend had left her all these years, and here she was seeing him again.
Angrily, she shot up from sleep. Fighting for her breath. It was only a dream, she told herself, and steadied up on the bed.
The door opened with a soft click, and Thane Elmsworth entered.
As if the dream wasn't torturous enough. She rolled her eyes hard.
Scarlett was in total disbelief at his appearance.
She had just dreamt about him now, and here he was. She cursed inwardly at fate. Scarlett stared intently at Thane. Her lips paled from fright, and her eyes bulged out from shock.
Her mind went blank, and so did everything.
Leaving only the sound of Thane's shoe clicking on the marble, accompanied by the ticktock of the wall clock.
The sync of the two sounds created a torturous, eerie tune in her mind.
Thane sauntered towards her majestically. As if it were hypnotic, she raised her head and looked at him.
He was pouring her a glass of water from the jug.
That's Elmsworth for you. A load of years from each other, but still able to play it cool. Well, two can play this game.
They were best friends but he had always wanted something more. She couldn't provide that.
On the day he told her he wanted to marry her,she had apologetically said we are impossible. After that, he had gone away and never returned.
It had been so lonely without him around, although she had a boyfriend.
Looking at him, she felt stupid. Why was she sad and afraid? It was he who overthought their relationship. It was supposed to only be a FRIENDSHIP!!
To even think that he had proposed to her in high school, how ridiculous!!.
She decided to play it cool. They were only best friends, and maybe if she made him hate her, they would grow distant, so she thought.
"Dawn, you are awake," Thane asked gently as he brought a glass of water to her.
"Umm," like a little girl, she shook her head, causing her locks to ruffle.
She felt awkward.
Thane held the glass for her as she drank the water. He couldn't resist the urge to fix her ruffled hair, and in an instant, he fixed a few strands of hair off her delicate face.
