CHAPTER 11: BESTIE THANE

450 Words
Thane returned with different polythene bags in his hands. He handed Scarlett a bottle of freshly made orange juice who diligently took it. She took a few sips, savoring the taste. It even had a mixture of berries, which was her favourite. It was delightful. Thane placed a tiny meal table above her legs. She lifted it off and sat crossing her folded legs . "This is better," she casually said while she patted the table like a little, impatient child waiting for dessert. Thane leisurely set up all the dishes and handed her cutlery. She almost drooled over the food. "Sleeping for two days really makes you this hungry, huh?" Thane said as he tucked her into the blanket and made space for himself on the large hospital bed. "Don't even mention it. As if you don't know, I always gobble up a lot," she said and stuffed her mouth with food. Thane also knew her appetite. She really ate a lot of food but never gained weight. In fact, there were times when she would forget to bring any snacks and rummage through his bags in search of snacks. On realisation, Thane started packing many more snacks in his bag for her to eat. He wouldn't question her, and she wouldn't tell him. It's because Scarlett knew that he was aware that she would eat all the snacks. That was their relationship. Mutual understanding and Simplicity. She really had an appetite and was now acting differently from earlier. "Here are some greens, they are good for your bones," Thane said as she placed them on her plate. Occasionally, Thane would place different food on her plate, which she happily ate. The greens were untouched, and knowing her too well, he knew she hated having her veggies. When Scarlett opened her mouth to eat fish, he hurriedly placed the greens in her mouth. Her face twisted with the bitter taste in her mouth. "Bestie Thane. Why did you give me that awful stuff?" she brattily asked. The statement came out fast; she couldn't hold it back. The atmosphere had gone back to when they were still teenagers, enjoying each other's company, and she felt free to address him that way. She knew how much Thane hated her calling him Bestie. Thane clenched his fists hard, and his jaw ticked. Why that word? He literally became hot from that word. Images of Dawn with another man laughing and chatting away. Envy, Jealous and Anger flashed through his obsidian eyes. He dissipated his anger so as not to make her feel uncomfortable. "Fancy that, veggies know no taste," he said playfully and dabbed a napkin on the sides of her lips.
