~AMARIS After the initial shock of recognition left me completely without breath, my instincts took over, driving my failing body away from the terrace, away from the pool, and away from the ghost standing in the center of the courtyard. I ran straight upstairs, the absolute panic inside my chest making my lungs feel as though they were being squeezed by iron bands. The interior of the massive pack house was quiet as ice, a terrifying, suffocating silence that only amplified the frantic, wet tapping of my bare feet against the cold floorboards.
