I had to blink a couple of times to process what happened. The last thing he said stuck in my head. My stare wanders on his face, looking for something in it. All of us in the round table were surprised—including the person in question himself. What was he trying to say? Does he genuinely want to help me study and pass those tests? In the first place, why would he care about me? He might have wanted to hang out with his friends, but I was in the way. The two were too invested in the tutor thing. But wouldn’t it be in his best interest if he had no one to teach at all? Why would he care if I flunked the exams? It wouldn’t hurt him even the slightest.
