Chapter 5

"How did you know about this, Williams?" Henry angrily asked. "I came by the house to check up on Brian and was informed that Aunt Ella had fallen ill and had been rushed to the hospital. I knew Brian would definitely be here. I felt so sorry for aunt Ella that I uploaded the news on social media for people to pray for her" Henry's blood pressure shot up at those words "Who gave you permission to upload information regarding my family on social media, Williams?" "Uncle, I'm truly sorry. It felt right at the time but I didn't know it would offend you, I really meant no offense" Williams looked apologetic. "Dad, please don't be mad" Brian joined to placate his father. Henry sighed deeply "I don't know what to do with you. Just like Brian, you do things without thinking. I shall not tolerate this kind of childish behavior from you next time. Do I make myself clear?" He said with an authoritative voice. "Yes sir" Williams answered. The air became awkward after that so Brian said "Dad, I would be leaving with Williams but I'll return shortly to check on mom. What would you like to eat so I can get it for you?" "You don't need to worry about getting me food" Henry said "I shall also be leaving in about 30 minutes and before I go, I shall deploy two maids to be with your mom, one for day duty and the other for night. I shall also place bodyguards to stand guard at her door so unwelcomed guests would not disturb her rest" He glanced at Williams while saying this. "That's a good idea, dad" "There's something I would like to discuss with you so make sure to come home by 7 Pm" Henry said "Okay, see you later, dad" "Bye, Uncle Henry" Williams said. Henry didn't reply him. Brian and Williams walked out of the hospital together. On reaching the hospital car park, Williams couldn't control his emotions anymore and lashed out "Brian, why was uncle Henry behaving like a sourpuss? I even expected he would be grateful to me for posting aunty Ella's news on social media. A lot of people showed concern, others even prayed for her but instead of uncle to appreciate me, he's scolding me!" "Chill, bro. What you did back there wasn't cool at all" Brian replied. Williams couldn't believe his ears "Even you too Brian?" "Will, my father is a private person who does things in his own way and in his own time. What you did was breach his privacy. Some people could legally sue you for that but all he did was show his disapproval and you are still complaining?" "So you really believe I was wrong when all I did was show I cared?" "So since I didn't post it online and my father didn't post it online, does it mean we don't care? I ought to have quarreled with you when you admitted it was you who did it but I didn't so please don't get me started now" Brian was gradually becoming angry. "Woah, woah, bro. It's okay. I apologize. No need to get all worked up, okay? I understand now that I went overboard and I'm sorry" Williams said. "By the way, why were you looking for me at my house?" Brian asked. "I came to ask what plans you had lined up for tonight. I was hoping we'll go to the Deja Vu Showgirls tonight to catch some fun. I would even like a private session with the one called Delarit" Brian shook his head "I'm not going anywhere except my house. I have a ton of things on my mind" "Is it aunt Ella?" Williams asked sympathetically. "Yes, that as well as other things" "Things like what, bro?" "I believe you are aware my parents want me to get married and settle down soon" "I thought you didn't care for that test" "On the contrary, with my mom's poor health, it has become a task I can no longer ignore" "Why?" Williams cynically asked "Because your mom is ill? I mean no disrespect to your sweet mom but bro, don't do this to me. We're the 'free brothers' remember? It's not yet time to be doing the 'settling down' thing. I mean we still have all the time in the world!" "My mom might not make it, Will! Before she fell ill, I promised her that I'll get married soon and with this sudden illness, I have decided not to delay my promise to her because I love my mom" "Sure you do. I mean I love auntie Ella too and I understand how you feel. Are you getting married to the girl your dad arranged for you?" "Yes, you remember her, right? Her name is Katrina Jones" "I'm happy for you Brian. This calls for a special celebration at the Deja Vu Showgirls club, you know what I'm saying?" "Not tonight Will. I'm really not in the mood. Did you drive down here?" "No, I told you how my dad ceased my credit cards, froze my accounts and instructed me to live frugally so I can empathize with the poor" Will replied. "Yeah, you said he told you that he will reinstate you if you can successfully live like a poor man for fifteen years. I feel for you, my man. I used to think my dad was the worst but compared to yours? my dad is an angel!" Brian said. "Thinking about him makes me break out in hives" Williams said "Since you're been a spoil sport this night, I guess I will spend time at the club alone but I shall need you to drive me there. Hope you don't mind?" "No, I don't. Hop in. Let's go" On the way to the club, both friends had a lot of thoughts going on through their minds. While Brian was thinking of his mom and how to fulfill his promise to her, Williams was busy thinking of how to sabotage Brian's plans.
