Mary smiled and replied, “I enjoyed seeing you again and sharing dinner. I think that my family enjoyed having you for dinner. My uncle and aunt were nervous about meeting you, but they seem comfortable with you now.”
I laughed and said, “I felt the same nervousness. I am relieved that they have accepted me as they have. I only regret that I didn’t talk to your aunt as much as your uncle.”
Mary nodded and replied, “That is all right. My aunt doesn’t like to talk with anyone. She is very quiet. I know that she will warm up to you as she gets to know you. It took a long time for her to even talk to my father and mother when she married my uncle.”
I found Mary’s words interesting. “You mean that your aunt had not met your mother and father before marrying your uncle?”
