The road met us with a sharp turn to the left. Percy struggled to make the turn as smoothly as possible but to no avail. The wagon thudded violently as the wheels slid over rut after rut in the muddy road. I could imagine the wheels simply snapping off and falling into the road. It was all that I could do to hold on to the wagon and hope that my luggage did not fall from the wagon. Nothing seemed to move even with the violent thudding. The road straightened again, and our journey resumed its peaceful pace. The occasional hill and bump were all that we had to face now.
