I nodded vigorously and replied, “My friend Percy and his family have been very welcoming since my arrival yesterday.” The minister instantly looked up and turned his attention to Percy and his family. “Mr. and Mrs. Merivel! How are you all?” It was then that I no longer tuned into the conversation. The minister had now moved halfway down the pew in front of us so as to talk to Percy directly. I was somewhat relieved.
