Complications

Later that night I woke up quickly. I could have swore I heard something. I looked out of the tent to see an orange glow. I felt my pocket and my lighter was still there. I got up and left the tent to find Nadean sitting by the fire, looking around the forest. I sat across from her and without even looking at me she spoke in a whisper. “Do you growl in your sleep?” I tensed up. “Not that I know of. Were you making noise? I woke up because I heard something.” She took her gun out and looked around. She looked scared. I growled lowly and began to shift, fur and claws begin to sprout from my hands. Nadean seeing this froze. I don't know why I stopped but I did. “Are you afraid of werewolves?” I asked lowly. “I'm not afraid… I've had bad run-ins.” She said a bit taken by surprise. “Bad run ins?” I asked in almost a whisper. She kept scanning the forest. “I've been corned by a lot of male wolves alright. Is that what you want. To get me to talk about my traumas?” My blood ran cold. Are you f*****g serious? I know the department treats their humans better than their monsters. I know they would have known about this. I inched closer to her. “Did you choose to do this?” She simply nodded and I sighed. “Did you know it was the heat season?” Another nod. “Are you serious? Just my scent can get you killed. And for what just so you can get over a f*****g fear!” I raised my voice and she put the gun under my chin. “It's none of your concern!? I'm sure the women act the same as the men when your in heat so why the f**k are you up close to me!? I'm sure Brandon hates you being here too. Your bound to be strapped with pups if not a mate. Maybe he'll get mad enough to drain you!” I growled and shoved her a bit but just then we were both hit by something hard. I got to my feet to see a massive male werewolf snarling at us, his chest heaving and drool dripping from his mouth. I saw Nadean searching the leaves for her gun but he was inching closer to us. I ripped her up and shoved her back. Only for him to snatch us both up in his massive hands he held us well above the ground and took in a deep sniff. Nadean was struggling. She clawed at his arm and kicked at him. I on the other hand stayed still and quiet. He was already confused. I've been too close to her and our scents have mixed. Her fighting was what he wanted. He dropped me and I slowly backed away. He snarled at her, gnashing his teeth, trying to get her to shift. Nadean was starting to panic. And he was getting impatient. He dropped her and she hit the ground hard. Before she could get up he lunged and pinned her down. His hand clamping around her entire rib cage. She was now at her breaking point as tears began to fall from her eyes, she tried to pry his finger off of her. I kept backing away until his ears perked. Good, I made it far enough away. He took a deep inhale and growled as his whole demeanor changed. He knew he was tricked and he tightened his grip, making Nadean scream. I howled and his head snapped toward me. I reached down to the metallic gleam beside me in the brush as I let out another long howl. He tilted his head before Nadean winced again, snapping him out of it. He lunged for her and I fired, barely grazing his back with the bullet. He shot up and howled in pain but it was too late. I could already see the glint of blood on her shoulder. f**k I should have been faster. I eventually hissed in pain and dropped the gun and looked at my burnt hands. Of course I couldn't expect just the bullets to be silver. As I flexed my hands he recovered and growled. I looked up to see him glaring over at me with pricing yellow eyes. I had no time to think, he ran at me. As he tackled me I shifted and shoved his head away from me. He snapped and snarled and I brought my legs up and kicked his core, aiming to gouge him. He winced but his ears raised. I panicked as I realized what was happening. I began to shove my paws against him as I used my hands to shove me backwards, attempting to slip out of his hold. My hand slipped and before I knew it he had my leg and I was turned over. My ears went back as I frantically tried to claw myself out of the situation, only resulting in producing me a cold bed of plowed soil for the sewing that was about to happen. I kept trying, eventually finding a large tree root. I dug my claws into it and pulled, only for him to sink his claws into my side and pull back hard. My body went cold and I tried to register what happened, until the thrusting began. I let out a growl and sent an elbow into his mouth. But he didn't care. It just excited him. He went faster and harder as he clampped down on my shoulder. I growled sharply as I tried not to whine. I began to frantically claw at his face but once again it only made it worse. I gave up. I buried my snout in the cold dirt and whined as the torture continued. My life was over. I can't arrest people here. There is no law. This was just the way. And there was no way I was overpowering him. I squeezed my eyes shut only to hear four loud cracks. Then his heavy body fell on top of me. I turned and tried to push his body up only for Nadean to rip him up to a sitting position with ease. She looked at me with disgust. I don't know if it was because of my form or the situation. She went to pull his body the rest of the way off of me and I went to protest but it was too late. There was a sharp ripping sensation and I let out a thunderous growl that echoed through the trees. I shifted down and collapsed, holding my groin. Nadean winced. “I thought you all said you're not a dog?” “WE ARE LITERALLY HALF WOLF, NADEAN!” Hours later I sat across from her at the fire. She kept staring at me. “What is it?” She shrugged. “I don't know what to say. Thank you. I'm sorry?” I looked down. There's no need to say thank you, I didn't save you and the change is slow and laborious.” She glanced at her feet and I continued. “And there's no need to be sorry. Nothing came of it…” She looked at me with pure shock. “Nothing came of it? You were raped!” She exclaimed with disbelief. I shrugged and sucked my teeth. “He didn't finish and it's their nature here. It doesn't matter. I was more worried about it happening to you.” She just looked at me like she was trying to figure something out. I got up and walked to the tent. “Get some sleep were at least going 10 miles tomorrow.” I settled into my spot and heard her come in and lay down. I closed my eyes only to get touched. “Jamie? Am I okay to go to sleep?” I turned over and sighed as I looked at her scared face. “I… I don't know. I was born like this. I don't know how to make you more comfortable.” She nodded and turned over on her side, leaving the open bite showing. It looked inflamed and red. I sighed and pulled her into me, she of course flipped out. “What are you doing?” I held her down. “You may be changing but you don't need an infection along with it. We have no medical support.” I ran my tongue over the bite, causing her to tense up. I stopped for a second before continuing to clean it slowly. She loosened up and I let go of her as I continued to work at the bite. An absolutely intoxicating smell hit my nose and before I knew it I was traveling up her neck. She let out a small airy sigh and I stopped, not understanding what was happening. She looked back at me, her eyes were a shimmering gold. I made myself turn around. “Good night.” I woke up the next day with my arms around her. I justifiably freaked out and ripped my arms away. She groaned in her sleep and it was like the noise made my whole body relax. This couldn't be happening. Not many people knew I was with Brandon. Hell half the time we acted just as friends. I had to find them now? There was no way of denying it. The intoxicating smell, the feeling of complete calm. She was my mate. I sat there for a moment, watching her sleep and a distant sound caught my attention. I carefully got up and left her sleeping. About three miles from camp I sat perched in a tree, cursing under my breath. There was a pack brawl going on. If anyone crossed their path they would be shredded to pieces. As I watched the masses of fur and claws attack one another I went through my options in my head. These usually lasted for a day or two. Werewolves are a very violent breed and they need to show their dominance. The winner of this brawl will run straight to the next sub-pack and defend its imaginary title. Me and Nadean were still clear from pack territory but the packs all bordered our way forward. I raked my hair back and nodded. We were stuck at camp for at least two days before we can continue walking. 2 hours later I was back at camp. I had food cooked and covered up, waiting on Nadean to wake up. I was now in a creak near the camp. I ran a bar of soap over my body and scrubbed as well as I could, severely wating to get all the dirt last night's incident had graced me with off of my body. Truly I wanted to scrub away the memory itself… but it doesn't work like that. I reminded myself of the sickening fact that it doesn't even matter because it happens here, and scoffed. I scrubbed my hair down and let myself go underwater. I enjoyed the cool liquid on my skin as I rinsed off. When I came up I froze. Nadean was sitting on the roots of a close tree, watching me. Her eyes looked hungry like she was trying to devour every inch of me with just a look. I only had water up to my waist and I could only imagine how she was enjoying the show. I got out of the water and slipped my pants on. Grabbing my shirt, I walked over to her. “Have you eaten?” She shook her head, letting out a pained groan when I started putting on my shirt. “Then, are you even hungry?” She looked me up and down. “I could eat…” my face went red and I just gestured to the fire with a covered pot sitting next to it.
