I chased after Leela and she nearly slammed her chamber door in my face as I closed in on her. She was furious, pacing her chambers, cursing Eli loudly at the top of her voice. She jumped when she saw me, surprised to see me standing there. I closed the door to her chambers softly and smiled at her.
“Don’t stop on my behalf,” I said.
She shook her head, smiling without humour.
“I’m sorry, Kai. I’m just… I’m furious. I can’t believe he behaved so pigheadedly about it all, I just thought he’d… I don’t know, I just…”
Her eyes began to well up and I went to her quickly, holding her against my chest as she sniffled.
“You must be so sick of being constantly burdened by my worries,” she cried, shaking her head.
