I heard a blood curdling scream as Baka drew his final breath. When Mama and Kai both grabbed me tightly, I realised it was me. I screamed and screamed again. I couldn’t stop. I heard Eli saying something to Sakina as her and her guards dragged his limp body away. I tore away from Mama and Kai, kicking Baka’s corpse furiously, screaming in rage as I attacked him with my fists. Tears streamed down my face but I felt no sadness. Only rage. It took both Mama and Kai to restrain me as he was dragged away. I fell limp, exhausted from the exertion. Mama whispered something to Kai and he lifted me into his arms and carried me from the hall. I leaned my head against his chest, the sound of his steady heartbeat grounding me.
