Sudden Fortune

Chapter 2

The hotel manager received a report from one of his employees, Brandon's friend, that there was a commotion in one of the rooms. He immediately rushed to the room.

“Brandon, what are you doing?!”

“I'm just punishing them both, sir. They both cheated."

“Please get this employee out of your house! He's being rude to us!" Gracella's lover said while pointing at Brandon. And Brandon immediately dismissed it. Brandon wasn't happy when Gracella's new lover pointed at his face impolitely.

“Should I give you a mirror? You are the impudent one, having s*x with a woman who already has a boyfriend. Ah but it doesn't matter. Please take the girl. I don't want it anymore."

“Damn poor guy! You shouldn't embarrass us like this!”

Gracella was about to slap Brandon in the face but Brandon managed to hold her back. He looked at Gracella with sharp eyes full of hostility.

"Don't ever touch me because I don't want to," said Brandon.

"Fire him, sir!" Gracella said loudly to the hotel manager who looked angry. He didn't expect something like this to happen at his hotel.

“Brandon, you better apologize to them!”

Brandon chuckled sarcastically at Mark's words. He was asked to apologize. Even though he wasn't wrong. He just wanted to make Gracella and her new boyfriend aware that he already knew about their affair so they no longer needed to hide from making love to each other. He will not interfere with their relationship.

"I didn't do anything wrong to them, so I won't apologize, sir,"

“If you are not willing to apologize, please stop working from this hotel! I don't want to have employees who can't respect customers,"

Brandon finally chose to leave. He removed all the hotel attributes on his body. He glanced briefly at Gracella and her boyfriend who smiled mockingly. He swore in his heart that one day he would show Gracella that he didn't deserve to be humiliated like this.

Brandon left the hotel, leaving Gracella and her boyfriend who watched him leave with a mocking smile. Things he was used to because he was poor. They watched as he was fired by his manager.

Brandon doesn't have a job anymore while his tuition arrears keep coming back to him. Brandon's only way to earn money is from his job as Calvin's personal assistant.

After being fired by the hotel manager, Brandon headed to Calvin's house because Calvin needed his help with an assignment.

“It took you so long to get to my house? You've kept me waiting, you i***t!”

"Sorry, I came here by public transportation,"

"It's a pity that you don't have a private vehicle so you have to take public transportation,"

It was a taunt, but Brandon ignored it. He immediately started working on Calvin's coursework while being asked to get him something to drink, eat, and even change the television channel.

When Brandon takes too long to fulfill Calvin's orders, Calvin will get angry, that's where Brandon's patience is tested. He needs money, so he has to be really patient with Calvin.

"You do not go to work today?" Calvin asked, to which Brandon immediately replied by shaking his head.

"I just got fired,"

"What? Fired? Hahaha, how could you be fired? Did you make a mistake?”

“I saw my girlfriend cheating, then I taught them a lesson. I doused them with drink. They were angry and my manager knew. He forced me to apologize to my ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend for making a mess at the hotel and making the customers uncomfortable, but I refused. As a result, I was fired."

"I wonder, why is a poor person like you so brave to do something like that?"

"Even though I am poor, I have pride in myself,"

"Don't talk about your pride if you're poor, Brandon! Remember your position is under other people's feet!"

Brandon was quite hurt to hear Calvin insult him like that but he couldn't reply. He was afraid that if he said the wrong thing, his wages would be at stake. After all, that was enough. He made a little revenge for Calvin yesterday when Calvin accidentally poured food on his head.

“May I see Mr. Lucas?”

"Have you made an appointment beforehand?"

Brandon fell silent thinking. It turns out that even to meet his father, you need to make an appointment. There was a huge difference between his life and his father's. He lives alone in a very simple flat that could even be said to be inadequate, has to work part time in a hotel even though he has now been fired, and is willing to be his friend's personal assistant to earn money. Meanwhile, his father was able to work in this magnificent building, had a luxury vehicle driven by a driver, and became a leader who was respected by the employees under him.

"I don't-"

"If you don't make an appointment beforehand, you are prohibited from entering,"

Brandon hadn't finished speaking but had already been refuted. He was prohibited from entering the building belonging to his father, who unfortunately never recognized him as his son. His father's life was perfect. Have wealth, and a complete new family. Meanwhile, he only lived alone and was poor.

Brandon came there just to ask for help. Maybe his father could provide work or help in any form so he could survive. Apart from having to pay tuition fees, he also has to pay rent for a flat, not to mention his basic needs. He had been fired by the hotel where he worked, relying on Calvin's wages alone wouldn't be enough. He has applied for jobs in several places but no one has accepted him.

"So I can't meet Mr. Lucas?"

"No! Besides, your appearance is very questionable. You don't deserve to meet our superiors in such ugly clothes!”

Even though this is Brandon's best outfit. He deliberately wore the best clothes he had so he wouldn't be too embarrassed when he had to stand next to attractive people in his father's office.

Brandon was about to leave but he saw his father coming out hastily to his car. He quickly chased after his father who looked very charming in his formal clothes.

"Dad, wait!"

All eyes that heard Brandon shouting for Lucas immediately looked at Brandon and Lucas alternately. Lucas, who was originally walking fast, immediately stopped to see who was running towards him and calling him father.

Brandon forgot his father's prohibition. Brandon is prohibited from calling Lucas father or anything that indicates a familial relationship. Even though Brandon is the child of a legal marriage between Lucas and Brandon's mother. After they separated, Brandon lived with his maternal grandmother. His father never cared.

What Brandon knows is that after his parents separated, his mother and father both remarried other people. His mother met him several times before finally dying. Meanwhile, his father actually never met Brandon after the separation occurred. Only Brandon was trying to meet his father and it was very difficult.

“Don't call me Dad! Because I'm not your Daddy! Get out of here, don't bother me!”

"Sorry, I-"

"Poor kid has no shame," said Lucas, looking at Brandon from head to toe. Brandon's appearance was not at all presentable but he was brave enough to come to his office and even called him father.

"Hey! You shouldn't be here, let's go quickly! This is not a place for beggars!”

Security immediately dragged Brandon away from Lucas' car while Lucas was sitting quietly in his car and the car immediately drove away, leaving Brandon who was extremely hurt by his father's attitude.
