GRAYSON Well that was easy. I couldn’t believe it. She actually agreed. I didn’t have to force it out of her or give her some bullshit reason why it was in her best interest. Somehow I was once again caught in a dilemma. Should I be happy that for once she chose not to argue or should I be worried that she hadn’t tried to argue her way out of it. Did that bastard really mean that much to her? “What’s the plan here?” Her friend, a brunette with a death glare for a resting b***h face. “To take her to the main house.” I shrugged unfazed by the glare she threw my way. “And after that?” She pushed, watching me like I was an alien she needed to study. Heck, maybe I was, because instead of being annoyed or scared with the way she eyed me, I was amused. “I’m going to give her her space to sort through her thoughts.” I responded successfully without a smile. “And if she doesn’t want space?” She leaned closer like she didn’t want anyone to hear, “she would never admit it, but sometimes she needs to be reminded that not everyone is like her father. She likes company.” Like her father? I wanted to push some more for more answers, but before I could Adeline burst through a door, luggage in one hand, laptop bag in the other. I helped her with the luggage. “Make sure she comes back in one piece!” Her friend, Kris, called after us. Adeline’s head swerved, she stared wide eyed at her friend. Kris blew her a kiss with a devious smile on her face. I popped the back door open and toss the luggage into the back seat. Adeline shook her head, “don’t push Jay closer to madness before I get back.” She tossed back with a small smile on her lips. Hmm…thinking about it, she never smiled at me before. “I make no promises.” Kris shrugged, leaning against the entrance doorframe. Bold of them to assume she would be leaving the house anytime soon, but I wasn’t going to be the one to burst that particular bubble. She handed me the laptop bag and I placed it carefully beside the luggage. I held the door to the passenger seat for her and got into the driver’s seat once she was seated. The drive to the mansion was oddly quiet. I wanted to break the silence, but what could I possibly say. She glanced out the window the entire time, that was obviously a sign that she was in no mood for a chit chat and even if she were, it couldn’t possibly with me. I gave up trying to get her to talk and just focused on getting her to the house in one piece. The moment she crossed the doorway, Johnny ran up to her screaming, “Addie!” But that was none of my business, my worry was who he had been with before we arrived. “Addie come and see my drawings, Aunty Camila said I’ve gotten better.” He chirped happily, yanking on her wrist. A smile, just like the one she gave Kris before leaving, graced her lips. I was going to take it that was her genuine smile. It caused the corner of her eyes to narrow just the tiniest bit. She let Johnny lead her away. Once they were out of earshot, “What are you doing here, Camila?” She eyed me like I was gum stuck underneath her pumps, “doing was I was asked to of course.” She leaned against the closest couch, but the skittishness that oozed off of her betrayed the confidence she was going for. “And I relieved you of that duty. I really don’t like to say the same thing over and over again.” “Good thing you don’t have to. Lila employed me, so Lila is the only one with the right to fire me.” “Well, when Lila births her own kid, you can play watch-guard, for now, we’re talking about my kid and I’m telling you I don’t need you watching over him. Stay at your home.” Enough trying to consider her feelings, if she was going to act like she was high on cheap c***k, subtlety wouldn’t cut it. She looked at me like I had given her a slap. I stared her down, “Now, leave.” I wasn’t taking any chances. Adeline was a safer risk. Yes, they were both gold diggers but at least Adeline wasn’t trying to get me to fall for her only because she wanted to splurge with my money. Camila on the other hand… She gave me one final dirty look before using the front door the right way, to get out of my house. “Well, that was an interesting watch.” Adeline leaned against the doorway that lead to the hallway. I sighed and rubbed my temples. I knew she was going to be the clingy type before it happened, but atleast it wasn’t a total waste, it was proof that I had no attachment whatsoever to the lady leaning against the doorway. “Johnny?” “Finishing a new drawing. He is getting really good.” She said with a fond smile. I couldn’t really say since there was nothing to compare with, “Your old room has been cleaned and everything arranged the way it was before.” I told her, unsure what to make of the fact that she just stared at me blankly. “You should get some rest.” I added and led the way before she could refuse. My phone buzzed in my pocket just as she stepped through the door to a room covered in way too much purple for anyone’s eyesight. I’ve been trying to reach you, sir but I’m guessing you’ve been engaged. The blacks pulled out of the contract. I just got the mail about an hour ago. Shit! It was better when they were indecisive, but pulling out? Was Carl so insistent on his i***t sun running his business to the ground? “I have to take care of something real quick, if you need anything, I’d send you a number to text.” I told her before rushing out of the house to try and fix the mess that bastard, Aaron successfully worsened. He was going to regret the day he was unfortunate enough to be born.
