chapter 83

 Mindy's heart was shattered . She left Tyler because they both had a different stand for a baby and not because she stopped loving him . She thought that Tyler was with that girl . Her heart broke into a hundred pieces . She left the cookies on the door and went into her apartment . Tyler felt her presence for a moment but then he thought how could she be here . 

What will happen when the three of them will come face to face ?

Clara was trying to manipulate Steven to blindly obey her . When she thought that he was getting more inclined towards Emily she moved out of his house . She knew it very well that Steven will do anything to get her back . He needed her and he could not afford to let go of her . She was chilling at her house with Clara while Steven was guilt ridden because he thought that he sabotaged their relationship . He was feeling like a failure because he thought that he failed Clara . He failed to stand on her expectations . How different was the definition of love for both of them ?

Steven knocked the door . Clara went to open . She knew it was Steven . But then she thought that if she opens the door it could seem like she was waiting for him and she had nothing better to do that sitting and missing him and waiting for him to come to her door . So she signed Rachel to come to her . She whispered her to open the door and tell Steven that ever since Clara came from his house she has locked herself in her room and she is not letting any one in . That way it will look like she is really , really upset . And her plan will work even better . 

Steven knocks the door again . Rachel waits for Clara to get into her room and then she opens the door and acts surprise like she was not expecting Steven to show up at her door . 

" Hi Steven , what are you doing here ? "

" Can I come in ? "

" Yes , yes , of course . Come on in . " Steven walks in her eyes were searching for Clara everywhere . Rachel could read his expressions " She is not here . . . .  "

Steven turns towards her " What ? "

Oh she realized that she didn't used her words correctly " I meant that she is not in the hall , she is in her room . She has locked herself in and she is not even answering to anyone . I am worried . "

Steven was tensed , he walked towards the staircase . Rachel stopped him " Where are you going Steven ? "

" I am going to see Rachel . I want to talk to her . "

" I am sorry but you can't see her . "

" Why ? "

" Because she told me so . She is very angry at you . She told me that if Steven comes looking for her then I should tell you to go back to the girl you really want to be with . "

" Clara is the girl , I want to be with for the rest of my life . "

Steven takes his steps back and then sits on the sofa holding his head down . Rachel goes and sits next to him . She pours him a glass of water . " What went wrong , Steven , between you too that forced her to call off the wedding . I mean she was so excited to marry you . This morning also she was in such a good mood . "

Steven sighs " I screwed up everything . I don't know what I should do now . I know I made a mistake but Clara is also being unreasonable . She could have talked to me but no she thought that calling of the wedding will be a better option . "

" She said that she was done talking to you . She even said that lately she had started to feel that she has to beg you to spare some time with her . I don't know what happened between you two but I can feel that it has something to do with Emily . "

" Emily is just my friend . Her father just dies . She needed someone to be with her . How could have I let her deal with  such harsh time alone ? "

" Yes but if it comes down to Clara and Emily then you should choose Emily . She is your girl friend and your wife to be , hopefully if she agrees to marry you again . And when you choose her you should not be worried how Emily or anyone else thinks . Isn't how a relationship works . "

"  She hates me . Did she say that she won't marry me ? " Steven questions Rachel in a low and depressing voice .

" I am sorry Steven . I don't know anything about it . "

" Please can I go to talk to her . I promise that I won't take long and if she will think that she don't want to see me then I will leave her alone . I won't trouble her . Please . "

" You don't have to say please . Who am I to come in between you both . You can go to her . "

" Thank you so much . " Steven rans upstairs . He takes slow steps towards Clara's room . He stands for a while outside her door and then knocks .

Mindy was very annoyed . She left Tyler but still she was not expecting him to move on so soon . Her heart weeped on seeing him some other girl but at the same time she was able to understand how Tyler would have felt when she told him that she was with him just for his money and she loved somebody else . His heart would have shattered into a million pieces like her did now . 

" Hey look " Lisa said to Tyler " Some body left cookies outside my door . " She brings it in . 

" Must have been your new neighbors . "

" Aww it is sweet of them but at least they could have introduced themselves . Why did they just left it at the door . "

" I don't know . May be they got some urgent call or something . But why are you worrying we got free cookies . " He takes the cookies from her hand . 

" Ya that we did . Open it . They smell so delicious . "

" Just a minute ! " Tyler opens the packet . " Oh chocolate cookies . " Tyler takes a bite and that bite takes him down the memory lane . Mindy was a very bad chef . She could not cook anything and then Tyler taught her to make chocolate cookies just the way his grandmother made . And the cookies that Lisa's neighbor left outside her door tasted exactly the same . He whispered ' Mindy ' in his mind . He turned back to look at the door .

" Did you see the person who left these , Lisa ? "

" No that's what I said . "

" Oh I am sorry . Yes ! " He walks to the door and looks around . He thought that may be Mindy was there . But then he thought that Mindy already has a place to her then why will she move to some place new . No matter how much he misses her she was not going to come back . She has moved on now so should he .

" Tyler . . . . Tyler . . . . hello ! Where are you lost ? "

Tyler wakes back to the present " Oh I am sorry . . . . . . nothing . I was just thinking about something . "

" I have to get some stuffs and also I have to go shopping for grocery . So will you come with me . I know I have taken a lot of your time but I don't know any place around here . "

" Lisa it is fine . Hang on for a second , I will grab my keys . "

Emily was suspicious . That Ava was hiding something about her mother . Everything was not as simple as it appeared to be . She wanted to dig it up . She was getting this feeling that something wrong happened with her dad .

She grabbed the keys of his car . She was going to visit her father's doctor , Mr. Cooper . Actually Mr. Cooper was their family doctor . 

Emily was not able to find the keys . She had it in her hand a few minutes before . But now where did she keep it ? She looked for it on the bed , then under the bed . It was no where .

 May be se kept it in the drawer to the left of the bed . She opened it . There she didn't find the keys but she found something that made her all the way more suspicious . There was a check in her name that his father signed two days after her daughter was born ! Her suspicion grew deeper in her . Why will her father sign a check in her name and then not give her . She checked his drawer and there were more checks . What the hell was happening here ? She stood up and then she accidently stepped on something . She moved her leg . It was her car keys . She went and picked Ella and then walked downstairs .

She could hear people talking and laughing in Ava's room . She was familiar with one voice . The rough voice that could make anyone's ears bleed was Ava's without any doubt but who was the other ?
