Chapter 20 - Moving In?

1081 Words
Alice’s Point Of View I walked faster, my breathing quickened, and I kept turning back, but I didn’t see anyone. “I’m almost home,” I muttered anxiously, biting my bottom lip as I struggled not to run. I knew that if my suspicions were correct, then running would escalate things. My house felt farther and farther as I walked as fast as I could. “Y…you are here?” my mom asked at our gate, looking very surprised. “Yes, library closed later than usual,” I lied, hurrying to my room, but I couldn't shake the feeling that she was acting strange. Stepping into my room and shutting the door behind me, I finally breathe a sigh of relief, sinking to the floor just like the night before. “Am I being paranoid?” I asked myself, running my hand through my hair. First, it was that whole experience, I wasn't sure if it was real or not, the supposed dream that still gave me goosebumps when I thought of it. Then the person I tried to follow, now someone following me, my life was spiraling out of control, and it felt like I was losing my mind. “W…who is that?” I asked in fear, my voice shaking. I heard a sound coming from my bathroom; the shower was running. I stood to my feet quickly, taking deep, laboured breaths as I tried to think of a plan. “Stay right there and don't move,” a familiar voice ordered, as my hand grabbed the door handle. My back was turned towards my room, and I had wanted to run out as fast as possible. But now, against my instincts that screamed for me to run out the door. I slowly removed my hand from the door handle and turned to face the man behind me. “Reynolds,” I said dryly, swallowing some saliva. “Where do you think you are going?” He asked curiously, looking at me like I was the one acting strange. “Why are you in my room? What do you want now?” I asked in exhaustion, palming my face. “You belong to me,” I said calmly, studying me with great intent. “I don't belong to anyone,” I responded quietly, my voice shaking. “If you want any other payment, I will struggle to meet up with it, but this arrangement can no longer work,” I said firmly, a finality in my voice. I took a deep breath, bracing myself for what was going to happen next. I expected some kind of outburst or something crazy, but he didn't say or do anything, just stared at me for a very long time. “Are you sure?’ he finally asked mockingly, his body still wet from the shower. My room light had been off all this time, and we communicated through showers, but suddenly he turned on the light. I squinted, the sudden chandelier light flooding my eyes as I tried to adjust my eyes to my now bright surroundings. I looked around my now rearranged room, noting things that hadn't been there before. “What is all this?” I asked in confusion, my eyes not meeting his. “Your bedroom is big enough for the both of us,” he said calmly, drying his hair with a towel. My eyes finally landed on him as his hands moved to properly dry his hair, his biceps flexed the new tattoo spreading across them, and his chiseled abs caught my eye next. A lump formed in my throat, making it hard to swallow, and my mouth fell open as my eyes scanned his entire body. There was no denying how breathtakingly handsome he was; he looked like a god sculpted to perfection. “Seen enough?” he teased proudly, a smirk forming on his lips. “W…what? No,” I replied sharply, a failed attempt to redeem myself. “You can look some more if you want,” he said, chuckling, as he began to approach. “S…stay back, don’t come any closer,” I stammered anxiously, instinctively moving backwards. He didn't respond or stop either; he kept walking towards me, and I backed away until my back hit a wall. He smirked, trapping me with his body, his right hand on the wall above my head. His breath landing on my face made my body flush with anticipation and excitement as I tried to avoid his gaze. “You can touch it if you want,” he said in a low tone, taking my hand and placing it on his chest. The warm feel of his skin against my hand sent shivers down my spine. For some minutes, I forgot myself, letting my hand wander, tracing his abs with one finger and feeling his breath quicken. I groan vibrated from his chest, startling me and bringing me back to the present. I quickly removed my hand from his chest, clearing my throat and catching him off guard as I pushed him out of the way and rushed to the bathroom, my face flushed with embarrassment. My nose was immediately hit with the smell of his bath soap, musky and masculine. “For goodness' sake, Alice,” I cautioned myself, catching myself inhaling deeply. Hurriedly changing out of my clothes, I took a shower myself, trying to calm my needy body. After almost thirty minutes of standing under the shower, I finally decided it was time to come out. But I remembered my rearranged room and Reynold’s threat to move in with me, stopping me in my tracks. I hadn't even carried any chance of clothes when I blothed into the bathroom. “What if he is really out there?” I asked myself in panic, as I wrapped my towel tightly around my chest. I stayed in the bathroom for another few minutes, considering my options and what my next action would be. “I can't stay here forever,” I sighed in frustration, biting my bottom lip as I reached for the bathroom door handle. Slowly opening the door and peeping to see if he was still there, I stepped out cautiously but accidentally slipped and began to fall. My back was about to hit the floor, Reynolds caught me, his big, strong arms holding me up as I tried to regain my balance, and then my towel loosened and fell to the ground.
