Moon staggers back and forth, her eyes roam the couch searching for her missing phone. Her heart races extremely fast as she is already running dangerously late for a business meeting that she is supposed to attend with Zanga regarding a new partnership with a company that had been refusing their proposal for a long while.
"Oh goodness, where did I put it?" Moon mutters to herself, she tosses aside cushions and scattering papers in her frantic search for her phone. Her memory of the last place the phone was becomes very vague to her causing her to groan lowly.
"What are you looking for Moon? Are you not going to be late for work and your annoying boss will probably kick you in the face for your lateness." Solange, her best friend says with a cup of coffee in her hand. She pauses to take a sit out of the coffee and then taps Moon gently on the shoulder.
"My phone Sol, I can not find my phone and I do not even remember the last place I used it nor kept it." Moon says, her tone is laced with fear and a hint of frustration.
"Calm down. I saw it on the kitchen counter." Solange says, rolling her eyes at how dramatic Moon is.
Moon hurriedly dashes towards the kitchen counter and, fortunately for her, the phone is lying on the edge of the counter with several missed calls and unread text messages from Zanga.
Moon's heart races in anxiety, she does not bother opening the text messages nor does she bother returning Zanga's call. She just tosses her phone into her handbag and scurries out of the house not after bidding Solange goodbye.
She boards a cab to work and pleads to the driver to be a bit faster than the normal speed. Moon goes as far as promising the driver a huge tip if he gets her to her workplace in the next twenty minutes.
The drive to Tees Enterprises from Moon's house is usually an hour drive, but because of Moon's mention of a huge tip to the cab man, he increases his speed and although he does not meet Moon's expectations, he is able to get them there in thirty minutes.
Moon gets off the taxi hastily. She sticks to her promise and actually tips the cab man who does not hesitate to shower her with words of gratitude.
Moon hastily dashes into the huge building, she brushes past a few people who throw curse words at her for almost bumping into them.
"I am so sorry! I am sort of in a hurry! My life depends on this!" Moon yells, earning a lot of glares from people in the lobby.
She steps into the elevator and taps her feet impatiently waiting for the elevator door to ding open.
The elevator door finally dings open for the fifth floor, she exits the elevator while hurriedly stepping into the hallway but to her astonishment meets Zanga standing outside of his office with his hands deeply shoved into his pockets and an impatient look on his face.
"I am so sorry sir." Moon hastily scurries towards Zanga with an apologetic look on her face.
Zanga snaps his head towards her direction. He stares at her with unbelief and shakes his head.
"Miss Chantel, do you know what the time says?" Zanga speaks in a quiet tone yet deadly.
"I..I, I..I" Moon stutters with her head bent low in embarrassment.
Zanga rubs his temple and slowly walks towards Moon with his fists clenched and a scowl appears on his face.
"Do you love your job Miss Chantel?" He snaps at her whispering his words so close into her ears.
Moon can not bring herself to utter a word, she just nods her head frankly.
"I can not hear you," Zanga says in a rather questioning tone.
"No sir, I mean yes sir. I love my job so much. I enjoy every bit of my job sir." Moon rants, her body vibrates in fear at Zanga's judgment.
"Then if you love your job so much, I suggest you stick to doing your job really well if you do not want me snatching it from you. You know I can do that with the snap of my finger so do not test me Miss Chantel." Zanga says.
Moon flinches at his choice of words. She imagines the thought of losing her job and it makes her skin rise.
"Do your job Miss Chantel. I am giving you one last chance not to screw things up. Remember you are here not because you deserve this job but because I chose to have pity on your pathetic self." Zanga spits out with bitterness and anger laced in his tone.
A drop of tear falls from Moon's eyes fell, making her bite her lower lip to hold back sobbing noises.
"Make sure you fix this Miss Chantel, you have till the end of today to sort it out." With that, Zanga tucks his hands back into his suit pockets and walks away from Moon leaving her to wallow in her own self misery.
Moon slumps to the floor and bursts into tears. Luckily for her, the hallways are quiet and empty. She lets the tears fall from her eyes freely while resting her back against the wall to cry her eyes out. Moon runs a hand through her hair and curls herself up into a small ball.
She suddenly remembers how she had gotten the job in the first place, Moon knows very well that Zanga's words were not a lie. She truly did not deserve the job, If Zanga had not walked up to her that day offering her his business card and inviting her for an interview, she would have never gotten the position as his secretary.
Moon shuts her eyes close and her memory drifts back to the day where it all started. The moment she set her eyes on the magazine that led to her meet up with Zanga.
