Chapter 17

Neilrosa slowly opened her eyes, taking in her surroundings - a room full of dust and smoke. It was ringing in her ears and she felt someone beneath her. She turned her head carefully to find Steve. Tony ended up in the entryway with them, well more specifically she ended up on Steve because he grabbed her as the explosion occurred. All three of them scrambled to their feet, still in shock of what happened. "Put on the suit." Steve breathed as he eyed the destruction before him. "Yep." Tony agreed and both of them bolted out of the room, followed by Neilrosa. "Fury, do you copy?" She held her earpiece and asked, her voice heavy from the running. No one was answering, so she tried again. "Natasha, Fury, do you copy?" She still had hope that they are okay. Not long after she asked, someone answered. "Hill!" Fury's voice sounded through the earpiece and Neilrosa sighed in relief. "Number Three engine is down." Maria Hill was standing in her command area on the bridge, checking the engines with other agents running around. "Did we get a run in? Talk to me." Hill ran to another agent, checking his screen for engine number three. "We got a fire in Engine Three. The line looks mostly intact but it's impossible to get out there to make repairs while we're in the air."  The tech's voice sounded. "We lose one more engine we won't be. Somebody's gotta get outside and patch that engine."  Hill said to the earpiece. "Stark, do you copy?" Fury exclaimed through the chaos around him. "I'm on it," Stark answered. He looked at Cap and princess as the ran through a dim and debris-filled hall. "Find engine three. I'll meet you there." He peeled off and went for his Iron Man suit while those two ran to the engine. Before they got there a Hulk's roar shook the whole helicarrier and stopped them in their tracks. They exchange terrified looks, Hulk is loose. "Come on, we need to get to the engine." Neilrosa tagged his arm and began to run again. Not long after they arrived there, a huge hole was near the engine three.  "We are here, Stark. Where are you?" Neilrosa asked. She quickly changed to her "quick armour", but left her swords in the holsters on the belt. "Good. Let's see what we got." Now a robotic Tony's voice could be heard dint he earpiece as he flew to the engine from the outside in his Iron Man suit. "I gotta get this superconducting cooling system back online before I can access the rotors, work on dislodging the debris. Steve, I need you to get to that engine control panel and tell me which relays are in overload position." Steve jumped up to the relays as she stayed down, controlling the hallway for any enemies. When he checked and confirmed that all the relays are intact,  Neilrosa asked Stark: "What's the next move?" "Even if I clear the rotors, this thing won't re-engage without a jump I'm gonna have to get in there and push." "Well, if that thing gets up to speed, you'll get shredded!" She exclaimed and looked at him. "Then stay in the control unit and reverse polarity long enough to disengage maglev and that should-"  "Speak English!" Steve exclaimed, not understanding even a word what Tony just said. "See that red lever?" Neilrosa's and Steve's heads snapped to the right. "It'll slow the rotors down long enough for me to get out. Stand by it, wait for my word." Steve jumped there, nearly missing the platform. "Where do you need me, Stark?" Princess asked and hold the earpiece. "Stay down there, cover Steve's back. You are faster than him and now our security."  "Copy that." Neilrosa positioned herself near the door, checking the hallway and keeping an eye on the two Avengers.  As Tony was working in the engine, using a laser to cut off the debris stuck in the rooters, a pair of Loki's men stalked in, just to be stopped by Neirlosa's swords, cutting off their guns. One was trying to throw the grenade to the engine, but he didn't have time. Neilrosa grabbed him by the hand and throw him off the helicarrier as she was running between the enemies. Steve was watching her, for him she was just a smear for him because she was so fast. A machine gun landed by his feet and Neilrosa winked at him. "Don't just stand there a be pretty." She chuckled into the earpiece, making Steve smile too. He grabbed it a shot the last man behind her. Not long after they could relax a bit, the helicarrier started to lose altitude as the next engine gave out by Hawkeye's virus he planted to the computers.  Other enemies arrived, occupying Cap and the goddess. One of them got to Cap and pushed him off the platform. "Steve!" Neilrosa screamed as she killed the last one that came through the door. Thankfully she saw him hanging by the wire, trying to get back to the lever. Tony was already pushing the rooter to move, slowly picking up speed. "Princess, we need you in the detention room with Loki. He is trying to escape!" Hill screamed through the earpiece, gunshots could be heard in the background. "But..." "We got it here, your highness. Go there."  "Yes, Stark is right. Go, Rosa. Be careful." Steve breathed, holding on to the wire with all his might. "You too." She said just to him and ran to the detention room. The corridors were empty, the fighting was mainly on the bridge as she made her way there. As she got the detention room, she heard Coulson and Loki. As silent, as she could be, she came out of the corner and saw Thor in the cage, glaring at someone. She moved closer, peeped out of the corner seeing Loki, with his hands up and Coulson with some gun aimed at him. "Do you like this? We started working on the prototype after you sent the Destroyer. Even I don't know what it does. Do you wanna find out?" Coulson tempted him and pointed at the gun. Suddenly Loki disappeared with a grin and re-appeared behind him, stabbing him with the tip of his sceptre. "NO!" Both Thor and Neilrosa screamed as she ran to Coulson, trying to stop the bleeding. Loki didn't pay attention to her, he went back to the control panel. The last look on Thor when he pushed the button and the glass cage with Thor fell out of the helicarrier. "Why?" It was a whisper that left Nielrosa's lips as the tears stream down her face. He just gave her a cold look and turned away.  She screamed; a horrible, pained, angry scream that like echo bounced from the walls. Taking out her swords, she attacked Loki from behind. He turned and blocked her with the sceptre and a small dagger. She didn't care, she saw red. Not wasting any time she slid back just to attack again, this time quick as a flash.  Loki saw through her movements and blocked again, just to try to stab her with the dagger. She kicked it out of his hand and kick him in the stomach, sending him to the wall behind him. She attacked again, trying to s***h him with her right sword. He ended up in a corner. trying to dodge her every blow.  A smirk formed on his face and she stopped. She felt something behind her, but she wasn't quick enough to defend herself. Loki plunged a dagger to her lower abdomen while looking into her eyes. Her eyes widen as her lips parted, trying to say something. Without warning, she slashed him on his cheek and kicked him, even with a dagger in her. She took it out and her knees gave out, sending her to the floor. Her swords vanished as she was trying to get to Coulson. "You're going to lose." His raspy voice sounded, snapping Loki's attention to him. "Am I?" He smirked as Neilrosa was still trying to get to Coulson, gasping in pain. "It's in your nature."  "Your heroes are scattered, your floating fortress falls from the sky. Where is my disadvantage?" Loki was walking closer, waving his hands and smiling victoriously. "You lack conviction." Neilrosa stooped as she was trying to catch her breath. "I don't think I-" The gun in Coulson's lap fired, sending Loki through the wall. "So that's what it does." Coulson breathed and his eyes started to close. "No, no, no, no." Neilrosa scrambled to him as fast as she could, grabbing his hand. "Coulson, stay with me. Come on." She shook his hand, trying to make him stay awake. She was bleeding too, her wound didn't even start to heal.  "Director, we need help." She held her earpiece and breathed with all her might. She ignored the response, she was just trying to keep Coulson alive. She didn't even notice when Loki left, glancing one more time on the goddess in pain on the floor. Not long after he left, Fury ran in, spotting them on the floor, holding hands as she was still keeping him awake. "I'm sorry boss. They got rabbited." Coulson said as Fury kneeled to him. "Just stay awake. Eyes on me."  "Oh, I'm clockin' out here." "Not an option." Both Fury and Neilrosa said, looking at each other. She nodded as she saw the question about her in his eyes. "It's okay, boss. This was never gonna work- if they didn't have something- to-" Coulson's breathing stopped as he whispered his last words. Neilrosa gasped as she was trying again to wake him up. Tears found their way out and on Coulson's hand.  The medical team arrived and immediately went to both of them, but she just pushed them away and said to treat Coulson first. Fury helped her up as one of the medical team went to treat her wound, even though she couldn't tear her eyes from the agent. "Agent Coulson and princess Neirlosa are down." Fury said to the earpiece so everyone could know.  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agent Hill on the bridge pushed away one worker of the medical team and listened closely, her eyes wides and her heart was beating as crazy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Natasha too was listening on the catwalk, as two agents were taking away now unconscious Clint. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A medical team is on its way to your location." Sounded over the earpiece. "They're here." Fury confirmed, looking at Neilrosa, who now looked like a ghost. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tony and Steve were standing by engine three, listening silently. When Steve heard that Neirlosa is down, his heart sank. He didn't want to lose her as she was the only one, the only familiar person who he had. Then he heard those words. "They called it. For him."
