Determined to find the necessary information, Alexander St. Clair decided to hire a private investigator. He needed someone who could track down obscure and hidden texts, someone with a keen eye for detail and the ability to navigate the shadowy world of ancient artifacts and curses. Enter James Turner, a seasoned investigator known for his tenacity and resourcefulness. Turner had a reputation for uncovering secrets and finding the unfindable. When St. Clair explained the situation, Turner was intrigued, if a bit skeptical. “A cursed relic, you say? Sounds like something out of a horror novel. But I’ve seen stranger things in my line of work. I’ll take the case.” Turner’s first task was to trace the relic’s history and locate any surviving texts related to the sorcerer who created it. He began his investigation by visiting libraries, museums, and private collections, following leads that took him across the country and beyond. His journey led him to dusty archives and secretive societies, each offering a piece of the puzzle. In a forgotten corner of an old university library, Turner discovered a reference to a lost manuscript believed to contain the sorcerer’s original rituals. The manuscript, known as the Codex Maleficarum, was said to be hidden in the private collection of a reclusive scholar named Dr. Edwin Marlowe. Dr. Marlowe lived in a remote mansion, surrounded by dense forests and shrouded in mystery. Turner contacted him, explaining the urgency of the situation and requesting access to the Codex. To his surprise, Dr. Marlowe agreed to meet. Traveling to the scholar’s mansion, Turner was greeted by an elderly man with sharp, intelligent eyes and an air of secrecy. Dr. Marlowe led Turner to his private library, a vast room filled with ancient tomes and rare manuscripts. “I’ve been the guardian of the Codex Maleficarum for many years,” Marlowe explained. “Few know of its existence, and even fewer understand its significance.” Turner explained the curse and their desperate need to break it. Dr. Marlowe listened intently, nodding thoughtfully. “The Codex contains powerful and dangerous knowledge. To use it requires great caution and respect for the forces involved. I will allow you to study it here, under my supervision.” For several days, Turner immersed himself in the Codex, taking meticulous notes and photographing important passages. The manuscript was filled with intricate symbols and descriptions of dark rituals, many of which aligned with Madame Serena’s warnings. As Turner prepared to return to St. Clair’s estate, Dr. Marlowe offered a final piece of advice. “Remember, breaking the curse is not just about following instructions. It’s about understanding the spirits involved and approaching the task with humility and respect. The sorcerer’s power was immense, but so is the power of those who seek to do good.” Armed with new knowledge and a deeper understanding of the curse, Turner returned to St. Clair’s estate. He shared his findings with Helen, Omar, and St. Clair, who were both relieved and anxious about the next steps. With the Codex Maleficarum in their possession, they now had the information needed to perform the ritual of release. However, they also knew that the process would be fraught with danger and required perfect execution. The path ahead was treacherous, but united in their purpose, they prepared to face the ultimate challenge: breaking the ancient curse and freeing the tormented souls bound to the relic.
