Kara took out a piece of meat that had been left for her and began cooking it over the fire. It was a small piece, which made her extra annoyed. Elle looked at her, and she raised her eyebrows.
“You okay?” Elle asked.
Kara nodded, not saying a word. They cooked and ate in silence before setting back off on the road that Bolt was going to designate.
She noticed he hadn’t eaten. Her reasonable side went to him as he looked through the woods, scouting out a path for when the team was finally ready to go.
“Have you eaten today at all?” Kara asked.
Bolt didn’t look at her. It was his way and letting her know that she had hurt him. She hated it, but she also didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of letting him know it affected her.
“I’m good. You just focus on what you need right now,”
