I woke up with a great upsetting lurch, my resting place quaking under me. “What the hell is this?” A man’s outraged voice. “Oh... hey...” I forced my eyes open, surprised that some dude was yelling at me, but even more surprised that I had fallen asleep. It had taken me hours ... hours while I mourned that Dana was gone, hours while I fretted that whatever had gotten him now had my scent and was shuffling through the shadows, hissing and chittering, getting closer and closer.
