Chapter 13

Savannah POV

After I pulled everyone to the back table, I asked Emmett if there were any issues. He said, “no, but we need to speak away from everyone soon.” I nodded and made small talk with Dahlia and Diego, who was teasing Tristan for being beaten by me, and Tristan in turn said, “hey you got put on your ass by her too,” which made everyone around us laugh.

Those that hadn’t been at the morning workout session came over to the table to introduce themselves. There was Tarak, a warlock/vampire hybrid, and Akasha, a witch/vampire hybrid. Then it was Dorian and Lydia werecats. Then there were Geronimo, Taza, Waya, and Kanuna bald eagle shifters. Finally, Lenna, Adsila, Hialea, and Yona are raven shifters. They were all so nice that I hoped I could become friends with most if not all of them.

After we ate, Dahlia, Diego, Emmett, Julia, Luke, Anna and I walked over to the house to talk about what Emmett said was important. Dahlia showed the younger kids up to rooms while Emmett sat down in the living room waiting for me, so I sat down and nodded for him to go ahead. “Vannah, that brat of an Alpha has his title, he didn’t make Nora his Luna. He couldn’t get himself to announce her. She threw a tantrum and almost started a war between the pack and two others for trying to sleep with 2 mated Alphas. He couldn’t shift for the pack run his wolf wouldn’t let him so he and his father lied saying someone tried to poison him. You know it means he’s going to look for you even if it’s just to make his wolf happy, so he allows him to shift. We both know you don’t feel the bond and never will because you fully accepted his rejection, but he doesn’t know you have already shifted and have your wolf.”

“That means I can’t stay here, Emmett. I don’t want to put this town in any danger. I may not know everyone all that well, but they all seem great and if something were to happen because of me, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself,” I said while standing up. I was headed to the room to get my belongings when Dahlia stepped in front of me. “Come now, Vannah, we may live peacefully, but most of us here have known war if not battles. I, for one, will not allow anything to happen to you or those 3 pups up there. Let that mutt of an Alpha show his face. I owe that family a little payback, I don’t care who gets it,” she said. I turned around to see Diego’s eyes clouded over changing color so quickly that I didn’t understand till he spoke, “Hela’s on her way. I forgot my mind-link was open to her, and she’s not happy.”

Seconds later, the front door burst open and in walked Hela. She walked over to Emmett and said, “you are lucky we are related, or I swear I would fry you.” She then walked over to Diego and hugged him and kissed him. After they parted, she said, “Vannah child, we in this town will protect our own, and you became one of us the moment you got here. Everyone in this town has a lineage to the supernatural, one way or another. I’m the oldest in this town, but I’ve moved around a lot, that is till my werewolf re-emerged 50 years ago. Most here knew your parents and those that didn’t get to meet them still know that this town wouldn’t have been possible without them or your pack.” “What do you mean this town is possible because of my pack,” I asked.

“Your great great great-grandfather built this town when your great aunt was born. She was born without a wolf, so he wanted her to have a safe place to live. He couldn’t bring himself to send her away to a human town. So, he built a town where others could live that was safe and neutral. There are more towns like this because the supernatural council saw how people live and interacted here, so every kingdom has a town like this,” she explained. I thought about it for a few minutes before I said, “are you talking about Rowena Gerard?” “Yes, that’s who I’m talking about. She was born without a wolf and many thought she would die because she got sick often. She survived and even found her mate later in life, but her children were born like her, so they grew up here in this very town. This town and community are possible because of your family and pack Vannah,” she said. “I won’t run, but I won’t put the town in danger. I’ll head to my pack territory and rebuild it if I must. I may not have a pack, but I have Alpha blood flowing through me,” I said.
