Chapter 9

848 Words
Julia POV Today is Alpha Tyler’s 18th birthday and he takes his title today. Normally, I don’t work in the pack house, but since they have so many other packs visiting today, they have everyone working double to get things prepared. I would normally love to work with Savannah, but she seems to have disappeared today and no one has seen her. Gossip around the pack is she ran off this morning because she couldn’t take being treated like a slave and always getting mistreated. When we discussed running away, I always told her I would love to, but I couldn’t leave my younger brother and sister. Our parents were killed about 3 years ago, they say, "by rouges," but I believe the Alpha had them killed because my parents wanted to leave, which would make the pack look bad if members left. I ended up distracted, wishing I had the guts to just run away from the pack, even if it meant being on the run with my siblings when I bumped into Alpha Tyler. While I was getting ready to apologize to him, the Beta’s slutty daughter, Nora, slapped me so hard I saw spots yelling that I needed to stay away from her mate and that she was the Luna of this Pack. I laughed internally, since I know she rejected her true mate because he was an omega. He ran away from the pack that night. I know he’s safe because he’s my cousin, and he calls me whenever he can pay his bill. I hope this night ends soon. I can’t stand being near the pack leaders who are supposed to protect us, and they treat us like garbage and only act like they care when other packs are around and, even then, we still get mistreated. Once the night was over, as I was heading over to the cottage that belonged to my parents, which is now mine and my siblings. I am so tired and so ready for bed, but when I got closer to my front porch I saw a shadow standing there and at first, I got worried till I smelled him, it was just Emmett. “Hey, Emmett, what brings you over so late is everything okay,” I asked him. He smiled and said, “yea kiddo everything is fine,” but he was typing something on his phone and showed me what he typed. “Savannah is gone. She is safe. She sent me to get you and your siblings.” I nodded and said, “you look tired Emmett, would you like to sleep on the floor in Luke’s room again.” He said, “yea that way I can wake him when it’s time for training in the morning.” When we stepped into the house, he grabbed the notepad that was on the little table we kept by the door. He wrote a note. “Pack only one backpack, a piece for each of you, the little bit of cash you have and head west. I will meet you three half a mile outside the territory. I will ride my bike off the territory as it’s what I rode to come here. I have a truck waiting to load my bike and you 3, but if you leave with me, they will track you, and I’ve already left traces of your scent going east.” He handed me a bottle and I know what it was. I see certain warriors use it to hide their scent when they leave without permission. He said, “get some sleep kiddo as you look tired,” I went to bed and set my alarm timer for 4 hours, which is what I allowed myself. I woke before my timer went off and threw some clothes into a backpack for myself, then went and packed Anna’s clothes. When I stepped quietly into my brother Luke’s room, him and Emmett were up. He had already packed his bag. Once all three bags were packed and ready, I grabbed a bedsheet that I would use to tie my sister to myself to help carry her as I know she’ll end up getting tired and the distance to where we’re meeting is far, and she wouldn’t make it on her own two feet. I sprayed down the bags and both my siblings and then myself. The bottle still had some left, so I stuffed it into my bag just in case I would need to reapply it to cover our scents while leaving the territory. We went out the back door since it led to the west of the territory and Emmett went out the front and got on his bike. I don’t know how long it took us to meet up with Emmett, but when we got there he had sandwiches ready for us and bottled water for us. We got into the pickup truck which already had his bike loaded and strapped down. While he drove, he told us to sleep that it would be a long drive.
