Emmett POV I was in the pantry getting some sweets for the trip today when I heard that mutt as he rejected Savannah. I heard her accept his rejection and walk out of the pack house lucky for me, I can hide my scent due to my training in my former pack. I walked out the back of the pack house and followed her scent and asked her where she was going. “I’m leaving Emmett, please don’t try and stop me. I don’t want to have to hurt you,” she said. I won’t try to stop you, but which way are you going, so I can meet you, so they don’t know I’m helping you? She seemed to hesitate but then said, “east,” which I know she means west towards our old pack territory. I nodded and said, “see you in 1-hour Hailey.” Recognition flashed in her eyes, but she just nodded and dashed off before anyone could stop her. I went to my room and grabbed the only thing I needed from my room, a bound book that I stuffed in a backpack and my keys to my bike. I headed towards the northern border to leave the territory. I didn’t want anyone to really know which way I was going if they even knew how to track. Once at the border, Chuck asked, “where are you off to Emmett,” “I’m off to see a she-wolf to help ease some tension if you know what I mean.” He just chuckled and said, “have fun I’m stuck on this c**p detail since the brat’s birthday party is tonight, and he’s getting his Alpha title. He doesn’t deserve it, but who knows, maybe something interesting will happen.” “See you later Chuck,” I said and rode off when I was a good distance away. I hid my scent and started going west to meet Savannah. “Savannah, can you hear me? I tried to link her,” at first, I got nothing, then I heard her. “Emmett, is it you really you,” she asked, sounding scared to get her hopes up. “Yes, Savannah it’s truly me but where are you I’m my bike half a mile from the west border,” “I’m a quarter mile from the pack territory.” A few minutes later she arrived looking pissed off with a few scratches on her that seem to already be healing. She got on the back of me on the bike, and we rode off. After about 2 hours, we stopped at a diner to eat and maybe rest at the Inn next to it. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you who I was before. I was glad you didn’t recognize me at first, and I was able to help train you. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you against that beast of an Alpha, but if I had, I would’ve been banished. I wouldn’t have been able to stay near you and keep my promise to your parents,” I said. “I understand Emmett, I just wish I would have known sooner, but I always felt I could trust you, but hated everyone else in that pack other than Julia, but she won’t leave the pack without her siblings, and she’s too afraid to go rouge. I just wish I could have helped her,” I said to him. “What if I take you to a human town or city and rent a place and have you wait till I return with Julia and her siblings. She trusts me as you do, and I also know she wants out of the pack.” She looked at me for a minute, then said. “Where would I wait for you here is still too close to them and I know they sometimes stop here.” “There’s a human town about 2 miles from our old territory that I know you will be safe till I return,” I said to her. She nodded and said, “let’s go, it’s getting late.” It took a few hours to get to the town where I knew she would be safe, as not many supernatural travels here as its neutral territory. When we arrived, I knew the perfect place to take her as I knew the previous and current owners of the hotel and restaurant. As we walked in the restaurant I noticed that Savannah was on high alert automatically, which, for a young pup, surprised me, but then, again that shouldn’t she is of Alpha blood. “Calm down your safe here these supernatural live here peacefully. They knew your parents,” I mind-linked her. She slowly calmed down and replied, “I guess I’m just jumpy and still don’t trust anyone yet but you.” “It’s okay but the person who’s going to keep you safe for me is an old friend, and she knew your parents and grandparents.” I felt her look at me, but she didn’t reply this time. Before I could say anything else, a sing-song voice said, “my oh my, is that Emmett Laurent, come to see this old hag.” I smiled wide and said, “Dahlia my dear, you are no hag, you still look like a teenager, making me look old.” She stepped close to me and hugged me tight as a bear and laughed saying how good it was to see me. When she pulled away she noticed Savannah, and she asked, “is this her?” I just nodded and said, “can you watch her. I must go back and get her friend and her sibling out before they get mistreated as well.” “Now Emmett, what have you got yourself into that you all seem to be running,” she asked me. “Not running, Dahlia, I had to find her. You of all people know I had to. I gave my word. Those pups need someone because they are orphans and are treated worse than rouges. Now that Savannah is safe, I can get them out to safety,” I said to her. She nodded and said, “Come on, let’s get you fed and rested, so you can do what you have to do. There are a few messages for you that you need to read as well.” We sat at a table near the back, and she asked Savannah what she would like to eat and asked me if I wanted the usual. She stepped away to the counter and came back a few minutes later saying our order would be brought out in 5–7 minutes. While we waited for the food, she handed me a small notebook that had messages for me. She said, “these have been left for whenever you passed through or called.” The first message read. “Brother, we are alive. Mom and dad didn’t make it. We tried to help but they made us run. I found some of the other members that got away. Hopefully you are safe. Heard you became a warrior for that worthless Alpha brother. We know you're still alive because we feel the family link, but you have a mind-link block up, but hope you're okay. We’ve looked everywhere for her. We can’t find her. We’re scared she’s dead or worse.” I looked at the dates of all the messages and I felt bad that it'd been so long that I contacted my younger brother and sister, but I did what I had to, so I could keep Savannah as safe as I could while in that retched pack. After the food arrived, I looked at Savannah and said, “Dahlia is going to watch over you while I go and get Julia and her siblings. Don’t go anywhere without her knowing. Here’s a phone. It has my number already in it. While here go by either Hailey or Vannah, please I don’t want to have to come back to clean up a mess.” Savannah nodded and said, “I’ll go by Vannah, and I’ll stay here and listen to Dahlia. Besides, I can tell she could kick my ass if I got out of line.” Then I turned to Dahlia and said, “I will be back within 7 days, no later than 9 days. If you can reach Alexia and let her know I’m safe, I will reach out as soon as I am back. Also, can you see who is safe they need to know they can come out of hiding.” Dahlia only nodded and said, “stay safe and don’t make me have to go clean up a mess.” I laughed, getting up and headed back to that retched pack knowing I would only enter one more time and leave with those pups and keep them safe.
