Savannah POV
Diego spoke up saying, “you won’t need to rebuild the packhouse and most of the houses and cottages are done. The only thing that needs to be rebuilt is the guard shacks.” For a moment I wanted to cry hearing this, but I couldn’t get emotional just yet. I hadn’t let those bastards break me in all those years. I wouldn’t let the kindness of others break me. “Diego who rebuilt my back if no one has lived there since we were attacked,” I asked. Dahlia spoke before Diego could speak up, “most of us in the town helped in one way or another. Hela, Diego and I have done most of it since we knew your parents and grandparents. Besides, if it wasn’t for your family and pack we wouldn’t have a town to call our own and feel safe and comfortable to be ourselves. Some of us are hybrids, but we are a family and a pack of our own. We will help you if you need it. Yes, we live in peace, but we’ve seen war in our time.”
“You have a pack, Vannah. I may just have to go out and find them, and it will be up to you to lead them,” Emmett said. I looked at Emmett for a second before I asked him what he meant. “Well, I felt the pack link severed, but the family link is still intact for me and my siblings. I only kept my block up while at Stormbreaker because Alpha James always seemed to eavesdrop on everyone’s private mind-links. So, to protect my true identity and be able to stay close to you, I kept it up. My sister and brother are safe. They’ve reached out to Dahlia before. I’m not sure where they are. I’m pretty sure they joined a pack as a way to not become rouges. Hopefully, they joined one of two packs, Shadow Rock or Scarlett Moon. Both were allies when your dad was Alpha,” Emmett said.
After hearing what Emmett had to say, I asked him to try to reach out without leaving. For now, I needed him close to help protect Julia and her siblings. I can fight and protect myself. I’ve trained my whole life, even when Alpha James tried to prevent me from training. While Emmett excused himself with Dahlia to try to reach out to his family and others from the pack that could have survived, I went up to see how Julia and her brother and sister felt. I knocked on Julia’s door and she opened it. I step in and saw that her and both her siblings were there, so I asked, “how do you guys feel? Do you need anything?” Julia hugged me, then when she pulled away she said, “we’re good Vannah, no we don’t need anything. Did Emmett tell you that he wants us to go by our middle names and wants us to call him Uncle Emmett while here.” “No, he didn’t, but honestly, I think that is a great idea,” I said.
