Chapter 6

1036 Words
It was finally Friday and Andrea could not sit still. Charlie had tried to stop her from doing that but she wouldn't allow him. She could hear him slowly paddle to his bed and lay down. He kept whining every time she made a pass at him. She wanted to sit down and wanted to let him comfort her but she had too much going on in her head. Andrea had been so deep in thought that she didn't hear the front door open or the person walking into the her living room. "Well I'm glad you can not see," The voice said scaring her out of the thoughts she was having "Other words you would be mortified at how your carpet looks now."      "Anthony!" She breathed out "You scared me!"      Anthony gave a deep chuckle, and she could hear him get closer to her. He pulled her into him and allowed her to shed the tears she had been holding back. She didn't know how long she had been crying but Anthony allowed her to. When the tears were finally gone, Andrea moved out of Anthony's chest and gave a weak smile "I know this is a stupid question," Anthony said, she could feel his hand wipe tears away "but are you ready to go?" Andrea nodded her head and moved so he could loop her arm into his. Charlies nose touched her other hand and she reached down to find the lead attached to his vest. Soon they were on their way to the court house.                                                                                                ******     If it wasn't for Charlie and Anthony she would be at the back of the court room pretending she could actually pace back and forth. Well she knew she could but the problem would be that she would be running into pews and people until the judge would get annoyed and tell her to get out. Currently Charlie had his head in her lap. It was an awkward position. The pews only allowed enough room for a person to get into them comfortably. If someone needed to get out of the pew you had to turn sideways and almost bend over the other pew just to get past the person. Charlie had shoved himself between Andrea's legs and currently had his head in her lap. Every time she started to wring her fingers Charlie would lick her hands and shove his head between them. She finally gave up and kept petting his head. At the moment they were listening to the defense explain why they should be allowed to be granted parole. Normally the person who had been hurt would be with the Lawyer but because of her situation the allowed her to sit with Anthony. She hadn't listened to a word the lawyer had said and didn't want to because she knew she would flip out. That was until she heard what he said to end his speech "These boys were not intending to hurt that poor girl, it was a simple accident that turned into something much worse" Anthony grabbed Andrea's hands as her body stiffened. She could feel her  nails start to grow longer. She closed her eyes to keep from having them shift colors. Her breathing was ragged as she tried to calm herself down. She could feel her wolf brush her thoughts. She hadn't talked since the attack. Almost made her wonder if the attack affected her wolfs voice and her sight. While she was trying to even out her breaths she could hear her lawyer talking.      "These boys did not make a mistake when they shot my client. It was not a simple Accident." His voice sounded strong and angry "If this had been a simple 'Accident' as they say it was, she would still have her eye sight." His voice rose enough to give power to what he had to say "These boys shot my client, Andrea, while she was sitting on a log. She was no threat to them. Then they ran towards her, and instead of getting her help , for this so called 'Accident' as they put it, They raised the weapon again and shot again." She could hear him moving around the room "She can never see again. My client, Andrea, will never get to see the sun rise and set. She will never see stars in the sky, or watch lightening when it rains. If that isn't enough for you to see what Andrea has lost, lets remember this, when she has her own children, she will never get to see their faces, even on the day they will be born. She will never get to see their smiles, the first time they crawl, the first time they walk, the first time go on a date, the first time they go to prom, she will never see how they look when they graduate." His voice had dropped, the thing though it wasn't menacing it was calm and thoughtful, it was longing for a change and a chance at a different future. It gave her hope "My client, Andrea, has lost so much already, lets not create a bigger fear of having these men try and attack her again with a chance of parole."      After their lawyer said his peace the room was deathly quiet. Andrea almost thought she had missed what they had to say. Then the judge spoke. "I understand that miss Andrea Wharton is here today?" her lawyer told him she was "I would normally ask her to come forward to give her testimony, but hearing both sides, and knowing what she has already had to go through enough, in my opinion. Does the Jury agree to this?" The jury didn't say anything, but she assumed that they said yes "Then with that we will send the jury to go discuss their verdict, Court will be in recess until then."
