Chapter 4: TrainingThe following day when he saw Vera, Garner told her everything that had been said during his meeting with Cory, as well as his impressions and ideas. When he had finished, he looked at his friend expectantly.
Vera took some time before answering.

Garner shifted uncomfortably. He didn’t like the word special, feeling it to have an unfortunate connotation of precious. Then he shrugged.
