That day, Douglas didn't have much conviction they would get in touch. The kidnappers knew that raising money would take more than 24 hours, but it would be good if they did it. There could be some clues through the call.
Satisfying their expectations, and not their experience, they got in touch after 9pm. Douglas found the call odd and sat down next to Veronica's father concerned.
