His Secret

Isaac

It's so dark.. "mom? dad? where are you?" the child cried as she walked deeper in the dark. She suddenly heard a loud screeching sound of a car. She was terrified but it grew more when she saw the girl inside there was none other but she herself along with her mom and dad. She screamed louder and louder until her throat was hurting. She was thrown back to darkness again and then she hears a feminine voice.

"why? why didn't you want to stay home?" It was her mom. She asked to the little girl.

"I'm sorry mom. I- I really didnt know all this.. " She breaks crying again.

"Bella." A hoarse voice called.

"Dad! Dad forgive me. Please p-please come back.Both of you" The girl kept crying and crying. She brought her knees close and hugged them crying. " I miss you "

I woke up feeling uncomfortable when I realised there were tears in my cheeks. I remembered what I dreamt of. I bit my lips as I hugged me by my knees again. I miss you mom.. dad..

I wiped my tears to see my little brother Isaac who was sleeping sound, I felt a little of relief that on that day he wasn't there with us. Jowever he looks pale nowadays. For the past couple of days he is nauseous and yesterday he even vomited. I'll take him to doctor tomorrow. I pulled the blanket over him which he had pullen off and I put myself back to sleep too. Not knowing I was actually being watched by someone at that moment.

Next morning..

"Sis it's really hurting! and I don't feel like going to school. " he whined as he tooks the spoon in his hand. His stomache pain has started again this morning.

"Kay, we're not going to school." He smiles sheepishly. "Instead we are going to doctor's" and his smile fades away.

"I would rather go to school." He said as he grabs his back.

I sighed. I took my toast as I stuffed it into my mouth taking a glass of milk at the last. As I patted his back I felt a weird heat. I turned him getting a proper view of his face. Its was flustered. I put my hand over his forehead and it was hot. I took out the thermometer to check and damn, he had fever. It wasn't that high but I can't risk it to go worse I had to took him to the nearest doctor fast.

We were given with some tests and the worst yet 1st of them was blood test. All the time he was sobbing. How I wish I had atleast something to keep his mind distracted.

Work place

Meet my 3rd part time place, an ice cream shop. Technically its the 4th, its just the 3rd one is closed cuz the owner's niece died and she used to live with her. Well more like her niece just vanished for almost 9 months now. She gave her missing report yet there were no sign of her. Her niece was really cheerful and adorable.

I was taken by my thoughts when my brother was whining for icecream but I can't give him. His health is not too good what if ice cream makes it worse. "Can I make you some fruits juice instead of ice cream Isaac?"

"But I want icecream!" He whined having some tears formed in his eyes.

"But Isaac you see you've fever! I can't let you have ice cream."

"I'll be fine sister. I promise" he tucked a small material from my uniform not letting me go back to work.

"And I promise to make you my special icecream with lots of sprinkles when you're all cured up okay?"

"Okay" He says finally with a smile and I ruffled his hair going back to work. I had him sit in one of a table close to me so that I can always have an eye on him. Sadly, he was bored and I could do nothing for him.

About my schedule of 4 part times it was like I had Monday to Friday, at grocery shop from evening to night, and at Korean restaurant of Mrs. Kim (Lunch period) & This Ice cream shop on Mon and Wed & at Summer Dates Cafe (evening) on weekends.

2h went by just doing my work, though its still winter people still have ice creams. Not that I can blame them, ice cream is tempting. I wonderwhat's taking Dane so long. He is like a regular customer. He comes often having when his mood is upset for anything complaining about his mom and his game team while asking for his chocolate sundae.

" Hey Isabel" and here he was entering his one of the favourite spot I guess. And he was followed by Simon..

"Hey" Simon said with a smile his hands in his jeans pocket.

"Hey, you guys are here to hangout?"

"Yea, he is kinda cool and understand the games talk babble about." He laughed as he showed me his bag which contains his new gaming tools.

"oh god congratulations for finally buying your tools and finding an alliance Mr.Smith " I laughed while making his all time sundae.

"Thank you Ms.Lane. Hey Trev order anything. My treat"

"oh my Mr.Smith gives treat. He rarely does that. " Dane laughed and notices my brother over there.

"I didn't see your brother. Shouldn't he be at school"

"He is sick. He has fever, stomach ache and he even vomited yesterday. " I sighed. I don't know if its serious but it's making me worry a lot.

"Hey , he is gonna be fine" Dane said tapping my shoulders. I have always found him being supportive and positive. "Me and Trev an

will accompany him. Not that I have class anyway today and Trev is free right?"

"yea, sure. " He smiled.

"No, I dont want to trouble you guys." I handed the Sundae of Dane.

"It's not to be trouble about. We will just have our cool talks. I know your brother loves Hulk."

"I'll bring some organic juice for him. He will feel good if he has it. "

" thank you" I said. Well, it's good if Isaac has some company. He will feel better. I get to my work making some ingredients for other stuffs.

Time passes and the three boys were gossiping about games and heros. Simon had juice along with my brother as he didn't want Isaac to be only one not having ice cream. Thoughtful he is. It was almost time for my shift to end and Dane has already went to have his shift on grocery. He is exchanging our shifts for today as I have to go collect Isaac's report now.

"Come on Isaac, let's go see your reports." I came out from the employee room now at my casual Tshirt which had a jacket over it.

"Can Simon come with us pls?"

"What will he do there?"

"I like his company and he is free today" I looked at Simon who just nodded his head with a smile.

"Are you.. okay with that?" I asked. I hate to ask it cuz we are not even that close.

"I am. Don't worry" He smiled and took Isaac in his arms.

"You don't have to take him. I can do it" I really hate making him do all these. What's he gonna think of me, probably pathetic

"I want to and I'm sure he likes it. Right buddy?" He looked at Isaac who was enjoying sitting on his arms which perfectly showed his biceps now ready to tear his shirt anytime.

"Hell yeah and he is stronger than you."

"Not even a day and you're replacing me with Simon. Really nice Isaac."

"I'm spilling facts here Ms.Lane. You're weak & clumsy." He said as we walk out through the pavements while Simon chuckeld

"Mr. Lane dont forget this 'weak and clumsy' sister of yours brings you your hulk toys" I crossed my eyes walking backwards standing infront of him.

"Did I ever said how sweet my sister Isabel is to me Simon? She is super cool and the strongest. I love her " He said showing me his puppy eyes which are telling me they are sorry for before. I shrugged while Simon laughed at us.

"I'm sure your sister does alot more than just buying you Hulk toys Isaac"

"Yes, she makes me cute tiffin which my friends are jealous of. She never missed any performance I did no matter how busy she was. She always tells me bedtime storys. She always sits beside me whenever she sensed something is wrong. And when we miss our parents we always go to their grave together with beautiful flowers we planted ourselves in our house. She is the best!" Those were the first time I heard from Isaac. I was getting so emotional. I've always felt I wasn't giving Isaac truly what he needed but after hearing all that just made me realise that I did good. I know he deserves more and he will deserve a lot more better but those words just raised my strength of keep it up. If mom and dad was here would they be proud of me? Would they be... happy?

For the rest of the path Isaac, I and Simon talked about small stuffs till we reach the hospital. We three went to the doctors cabinet with reports and only that I feared is what actually happened.

"Isaac has apendicite, if this gets serious, he might needs to have surgery"
