Chapter 19 Revelation
Celeste momentarily froze, unable to believe what she was seeing. The giant black bear went straight toward Cal, who tried to get off a shot, but the bullet went wide. The bear slammed into him, pinning him to the floor.
KJ released her and tried to make a run for it, but the back door he’d used to come in was blocked by the bear, so he tried for the kitchen. He barely took two steps when a massive buck pushed aside the swinging doors with its antlers. Lowering its head, it pawed the ground as if it planned to charge him.
“Celeste! Go!” Charlie grabbed her arm to get her attention. The woman pointed upstairs. “Hurry! Thierry’s upstairs!”
Celeste took her hand. “Come on!”
“I can’t,” the woman told her, shaking her head with a smile. “You go!”
