Charlie could not ask questions and keep walking and pretend this happened to him every day.
He walked for at least seven full steps and then he couldn't take it anymore.
"So," he began intelligently but hesitated as that was about all that he had in his vocabulary at that point.
"Yes?" she asked, but also knowing that he had no words, didn't even have ideas or thoughts that might begin to form words. He wasn't just at a loss for words, he was at a loss for ideas.
They walked more and when she finally figured out that he had used up his well of his one-word vocabulary, she helped him out.
"Why you?" she asked, but he was immediately confused as he was looking for answers, not questions. Or
