"A week, huh." I asked quietly as Lux and I stood outside of the meeting room. Everything was planned, and the meeting had ended. Abigail and Chris were the first to disappear down the hall to go and assign members of the expedition party. Aldrich and Duke Hagsworth remained within, discussing Aldrich’s mage training, allowing Lux and I a little privacy. I didn’t want to sound clingy or show that I was upset, but my emotions were taking control of me. "Are you not happy that I’m going?" Lux murmured, placing a hand on my cheek. "I know that we just confessed our feelings, but this is something that must be done." I knew that. Of course I knew that. I also knew that it was selfish of me to even consider trying to have Lux stay behind with me. "I’m not, but I understand it must be done.
