Miles ran after Emily through the steep terrain, bruising himself as he struggled to catch up with her before she could get out of sight. Emily herself had bruises on her hands and legs but with her emotions riling up, she was numb to the pain. She tried hard to cry; let the pain out but her eyes were dry, devoid of tears and the more she ignored the lump in her throat, the more anguished she felt. "Emily stop". Miles shouted after her.
