Leilani. My eyes couldn't fix on anything except to peer at his back until he disappeared in a distance, l slowly grab the card from the floor, still panting on my breath and trying to calm my nerves. A black card? What? Who is he? I jolted on my feet and rushed in the direction that he disappeared without minding my cloth, how can he give me a black card? One contains an unlimited amount of money. Who the f**k is he? Does he just go around dashing his girls a black card? What if…? No! I have to return it. Isn't that slavery? What if he will hold it against me? What if l get arrested? I staggered embarrassingly as l felt his c*m oozing out between my thighs, l felt so open… have never met one with such a big manhood. He is so… I hit the shower immediately and changed into blue jeans and a white hoodie and headed back to the bar with my bag to retire for the night. "I'm leaving," I said to Arden as he ruffled his pocket for some cash to pay me for my shift. "The selection for the Alpha's bride is in two days, you should register," Arden confided, counting some cash. "I know, l plan to join but l don't think I'm worth it. Prominent daughters of the state are joining, l don't stand a chance even though I urge to give it a try." l complained, shaking my head vehemently. "I'm telling you to give it a try," Arden hollered, passing me some cash as he went back to work on the inventory, "You don't need to worry about the registration process, l have already handled it. Just head to the Packhouse in two days for an interview with the Luna." "You didn't… ?" "Yes, l did. The Alpha was here tonight as we speak, he doesn't have anyone on his mind so you have a chance" "The next Head Alpha of our Pack was in our bar?" I yelled almost gaining attention but l shut my mouth immediately looking around apologetically. "What if he saw me? Don't you know that status matters when you are applying to become the wife of the Alpha? Do you think they will pay attention to someone that works at a Night bar, and get f**k for some penny to be their Luna? Tch, why didn't you warn me, Arden?" l hollered annoyingly. "I'm sure he didn't see you, he was on the second floor with the VIPs, even though he left all of the sudden, he even looked spent. I wonder which of my girls he f****d it." "Stop spewing nonsense, I'm leaving." "Alpha Cedrick is a nice person, he just returned from abroad, after finalising his Alpha Lessons in the Academy and even succeeding at every business in the state and now he is back to take over from his father, if l were you girl l will grab the opportunity whether he is my mate or not there is no greater rank in this world than being the woman behind the leading Alpha, the most respected." "Heh.. That's enough, l will go and give it a try… Not like he saw me," l said, grabbing my handbag as the memory of what happened minutes earlier appeared in my mind. l suddenly felt reluctant to go apply. What if l get accepted and l get married to the Alpha and l get to meet that fellow again? He seems like the type who will find me again. I wonder which Pack he is from. "Are you alright? Did something happen to you?"Arden murmured, taking a closer look at my face but l pulled the hoodie over my face awkwardly. "Nothing happened," I puffed, rolling my eyes as l headed out, l winced as my phone vibrated from my bag. I tapped and scrolled through the screen to read the message, which turned out to be from Alpha Richard asking for his debt. When l was discharged from the Orphanages at the age of 18, l needed to find my way, to find my own path. Building a house on a quicksand since I didn't have anyone to rely on, no one to call my own so l went ahead to seek a loan from the Night Owl Mercenaries. There are mercenaries with no name in the government or under any Pack. I thought it was the best idea before now, l needed a roof over my head, l needed food to eat, clothes, and basic amenities, and l acquired a loan from Alpha Richard the leader of the Night Owl in exchange to supply packages to the chosen location. Even though l act ignorant not to know the contents of the said Packages which sometimes contain some bags of werewolf blood, sometimes refined m*******a, and nicotine, and sometimes some bags of white powder palliatives. I just deliver it secretly and get money in return then hand it over to Alpha Richard. …Still in exchange for paying my interest every month and today is one of those days. Even after these years, l have been paying my debt especially since l skipped for two years as I wasn't doing well, the interest increased over time and I'm yet to even pay for my rent. I took out the black card ignoring the text message, what if l should just spend all the money in here? I'm sure l can settle my debts and even live a good life with this card. After all, he warned me not to show up in his face again even though l didn't even see his face or know him. I sighed tiredly, strolling to the next bus stop to find a bus home. * * * Two days had passed but it was just ordinary to me, nothing new happened or anything out of place happened except the countless trait messages l have been getting from Alpha Richard. Although l have been noting my brain not to think about the incident of the other day even though my body tickled and misses that night so much, instead l form a new routine of waking up to see the black card on my sideboard every morning. I lazily got to the bathroom and started brushing my teeth but decided to go turn on the news while sourcing for clothes to wear to the interview. [The Prominent son of the soil has returned to take the seat of his forefathers, to lead the next generation in harmony and love.] [Alpha Cedrick to choose his bride today after returning from the state.] [Alpha Marbel to join in the interview for the Alpha's bride selection, being the second daughter of the prime minister and one in the heart of her Pack people, she is departing at the international airport.] [The Head Alpha Celebration to take place on the blood Moon in two weeks, as Alpha Cedrick to choose his bride today, one he will rule the People of the Black Creek Pack with, in prosperity and unlimited wealth that would make the Pack remain on the top until the upcoming generation.] What the f**k? I walked back to the wardrobe after turning off the television, l can't believe he has to be announced on a national channel. It's just an interview, not like the real marriage is happening. I sat on the vanity and started making my hair. l have been living a lonely life and I have become accustomed to it, I spruced up my hair having it fall over my shoulder beautifully, and l threw on a long gown that was below my knees, silted to my almost my butt at the back. I have somehow prepared for the day l would go to this interview. If l get chosen, that means my history would change, no one would know I'm an orphan that came from the dust or a bar worker that sleeps with the customers as a habit and for money. I know my history will be rewritten in a world that has never been fair to me, even though this Alpha might not be my fated mate but l can escape tribulations and become history itself. I can become something that the world will be proud of, even someone the parents l have never known will be proud of. I glanced at the mirror one more time, eyeing myself completely before l head out and waited a minute for a taxi. I arrived shortly at the address that Arden had sent to me, and my mouth almost dropped at the sight of the mansion. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the Packhouse, but l have never had the opportunity to or had a tangible reason to visit the household meant for the people and our leaders, as visitation is meant to be strictly on invitation. During the Full Moons, either l will be too busy to attend the celebration or l will downright forget about it… Now I'm here. I alighted from the taxi and slowly made my way in, walking majestically on my heels, inducing the different forms of scent that clasp my nostrils even though there was a particularly strong familiar scent lingering in the air. I made my way to the main entrance as everybody else, the maids and guards on both sides of the path bowing respectively to us. I held my purse in my front, walking confidently without feeling threatened by the expensive and luxurious atmosphere nor the class of girls that smelled sickeningly affluent and rich. We were given a seat respectively, and called out by our names like in an actual job interview. "I heard the Elders are desperate for Alpha Cedrick to get married that's why they're having a bridal selection, it is ridiculous that the Elders are still thinking like that in our generation." One of the girls that sat beside me said to her friend and l pretended not to hear. "I'm thankful there is still a selection so that my dream of becoming a Luna can come through, although l heard the Alpha is a manwhore, that he f***s anything in a skirt. I think it is a chance for any of the girls to win," Her friend retorted, feeling delighted. "Leilani Davis." A lady called out with a brown envelope in her hands. I raised my hand in the air nervously. "This way, Madam," She said, going on her heels, and leading me to an executive door. "Please go in," She added, nodding at the door. I responded nodding as well as l held the doorknob turning it nervously and l stepped into the office. I greeted intently, scanning my eyes on the arbiters when my eyes dropped on a familiar figure, my nostril sniffing up on a familiar scent. Who is that and why is he so familair? "Take your seat."
