Chapter Two.... Finding Her Lost Love

1547 Words
*present day* *One year later* Sarah woke up drenched in sweat. She had been having these nightmares since she escaped that fated day a year ago. She couldn't get John's face or his eyes out of her mind. It was like he was something else entirely when he would get mad. How was that even possible she thought. She had to get up and take a shower before she headed to work. She remembered how Tobi, the taxi driver had driven her all the way to Colorado, and just like he said there was definitely a job waiting. He had called his friend on the drive there and gave him a quick story. His friend and his wife were more than willing to help her. That's where she was now, Denver, Colorado. She had been at this job for over a year. She didn't really go out or even have friends. She was cautious. She had a very small apartment, which she loved. She was happy because it was hers. She could do whatever she wanted and dress as she wanted. She still had to look over her shoulder, but still, she was free. She had her freedom and her independence. She hopped out of bed and went in the restroom and stripped down and got in the shower. She cleaned herself and got out and dried herself and then brushed her teeth. She fixed her hair in a tight chignon bun with a few tendrils of hair falling loosely on the sides. She felt pretty for once. She put on her makeup and then she picked out a white silk blouse, with a tan pencil skirt. She pulled out the only Louboutin heel boots she had. She grabbed her purse, and jacket and headed out. She loved walking to work. She only lived about three blocks from the company. She loved to see the sights and enjoy the weather. She usually wore a small jacket or hoodie to work. She still covered her face as she walked just to be on the down low. She could never be too careful. She stopped by the small coffee shop and got herself a large coffee with a bagel and cream cheese. She walked to the company and took a deep breath. She always wished she could do more, but she could never really bring too much attention to herself. She had been offered so many raises here at the company, but she always refused, even though she wanted to accept so many times. Suddenly out of nowhere, she felt a cold chill go through her body as soon as she came into the building... well that was a first. She felt goosebumps all over her body and felt like the air suddenly had a lot of electricity going through it. 'What the hell,' she thought. She disregarded it and went to the elevator. She was drinking her coffee when she saw someone that made her heart race and before she could do anything she heard the words 'Mate' and the elevator doors closed. She felt the coffee fall from her hands and then everything went black. ----------------------- Jake's POV He had just come back from traveling the states. He went to different packs and tried to get more allies with some of the surrounding packs. He had been gone a year to date. He had so much stuff going on. He was the Alpha of the Glowing River Pack. There was so much to do before the Full moon. He and Lennox were ready. His pack always performed the Full Moon run every time there was a full moon. It was the time they could find their mates and bare pups. He had not found his mate. His heart had been broken years ago. Her name was Sarah Donnelly. She had ripped his heart and crumpled it to pieces and then ran. He had been so shell-shocked that he could not run after her and demand an answer. He swore from that day forward he would never let another woman get close to his heart. He felt weak and as an Alpha, you had to be strong. Love was definitely not for him. He came to his company this morning to check up on everything and everyone. He was walking through the door when the most delicious and intoxicating smell filled his nostrils. Roses and strawberries. "MATE!!! Our Mate is here. We must find her. I knew the day would come." Lennox growled excitedly. He was literally jumping all over the place and wouldn't stop. "Lennox, we must find her and take her back to the packhouse." I had to appease Lennox, otherwise, he would take control and mark and claim her right here. I WAS not going to let that happen. I followed her scent to the elevators and that's when I saw my Mate. I saw the one person I had given my whole heart to. Sarah Donnelly. She was our Mate. I couldn't understand why the Moon Goddess was doing this to me. I have been faithful to her and given all myself as an Alpha. Why her? I was so torn. I didn't know what to do. Until I heard a loud thump on the ground. Damn, she must have fainted. I rushed and listened with Lennox's wolf hearing until I found what floor she was on. I ran up the stairs following her scent until I saw a group of people and a guy holding her. "Get away from her... NOW! I growled and the man handed her over and bared his neck to me in submission. Yes, all my workers are mostly werewolves. I am actually confused about why Sarah is here. Has she been working here, under my nose? Who has been taking care of my mate? I feel anger and frustration just by this thought. I grab her and carry her bridal style to my office. She feels so soft and yet, there is a scent I can't place and it makes me mad. She smells of another, but she is not marked. I walk into my office and tell my secretary to cancel the rest of my meetings until tomorrow. I close my office door and sit down with Sarah in my lap. I hold her close and put my nose in the crook of her neck and take a deep breath. God, she smells divine. I want to mark her and claim her right now. Lennox is fighting me for control and I am having a hard time resisting him. "Mate! I want to mark and claim our mate! Don't be a dumbass. Claim what is rightfully ours. She smells of another werewolf. We must show she belongs to us and no one else." "Lennox, we can't mark and claim her forced. You know that. It's not even the Full Moon. We must talk to our mate and help her understand what is happening. I am so torn and I need time Lennox. She broke our hearts. Do you not remember that day?" I sighed and felt sadness. "Yes, Jake, I remember that day like it was yesterday. I still feel like something was wrong because I could sense sadness and fear in her. I still feel like she was lying, but for what reason, I do not know. We must give her a chance to explain and once she understands, we must mark her and claim her. You know very well that we can mark and claim our mate at any time. It is just stronger on the Full Moon. Please don't push our Mate away Jake." Lennox whimpered. I was so conflicted. Whether I wanted to admit it or not, I was still head over heels in love with Sarah. It was even stronger now with the mate bond. I wanted her badly. I put my finger on her face and traced it over each part slowly. God, I could feel the sparks as I touched her skin. Her nose, her cheeks, her lips. They were such perfect lips. They were slightly parted and she was breathing slowly. I wanted to lean over and take her mouth and own it. I groaned inwardly. I was engrossed in her lips that I didn't even realize that she had opened her eyes. When I felt her heartbeat increase slightly, my eyes snapped to her face. She was trembling and tears were falling from her eyes. She reached out and slowly cupped my face with her trembling hand. "Jake! Jake...... is that really you?" she whispered quietly. I saw her jerk suddenly and look at her hand cautiously. She must feel the sparks. I nodded my head carefully. "Hey, Sweetheart. Yeah, I am real. We need to have a little talk, don't you agree?" I whispered a little too harshly. I heard her gulp loudly and nod her head slowly. She was still crying when I put her down and set her on a chair across from my desk. "Jake... what did you mean when you said mate?" she said trembling. Now it was my turn to gulp loudly. "Sarah... I am a werewolf." All hell was about to break loose. Oh Goddess, give me strength. I beg you.
