Princely Guests

*Prince Tavin POV* Looking out the jet’s window, I could see the lights of Silver Crescent City shining below. It was smaller than Quebec, but blue shades flooded around it as dusk grew more into the night. It was beautiful, surrounded by forests of trees almost as tall as the buildings. I couldn’t help but think I really should praise the Opal Moon Leaders for their aesthetic skills once we arrived. “Oops…” My thoughts were brought away from the window by the sound of scattered pieces and a knocked-over Chessboard. Glancing at the mess, then to the culprit, I stared at my little brother unamused. “Turbulence knocked it over. Guess that means it’s a tie.” Tate shrugged his shoulders and gave his best toothy smile. The cocky s**t wasn’t fooling me, and I rolled my eyes. “I guess that is one strategy you could go with. We are going to be landing soon anyways.” My nonchalant tone seemed to satisfy his ego as he brushed his black curls out of his face. “Hey, I am all about that out-the-box thinking.” He gave a jovial chuckle as he leaned over the seat to hand a rook to the stewardess who had arrived to pick up the mess. As he flashed his charming smile to her, I could smell her sudden arousal, and I grew annoyed, causing a growl to pass my lips. “Leave her be, Tate.” Tate was still young, but as a Björk Prince, he had duties that usually meant him tagging along during my obligations. I refused to babysit him, though. He was twenty and had a habit of thinking with his 'instincts' more than his brain, which usually led to him having multiple ‘hosts’ while we conducted business. As long as it didn’t cause me problems, I typically let him embrace his playboy tendencies. It’s not like I could judge, I had yet to meet my mate, and so I had tossed a few women out of my bed when I was through with them. After all, we are beasts, and s*x is a natural desire that needs to be met at times. “I was just helping her…geez, man, lighten up some. We are going to a party after all….and after what happened with the last stewardess. Yeah, not making that mistake again.” Tate visibly shivered as he cringed, causing the stewardess to huff insulted. I couldn't disagree, seeing as it was my tires that were sliced, not his. “Well, no one can say you do not learn from your mistakes.” My dull tone did not seem to help the woman’s feelings as I spoke to my brother. She hurriedly finished putting the board and pieces away just as the pilot came over the com alerting us that we would be landing. “Please do remember, though, that this party, as you put it, is a ritualistic ceremony, and we are attending in an official capacity. You have the rest of the weekend to play between meetings.” Tate rolled his slate-colored eyes at my insinuation and nodded. “Yeah, Yeah. I know.” He grabbed his lapel on his jacket and suddenly straightened his posture, adding to the pompousness of his voice. “We are Björk Princes and as such must represent the royal line with dignity and class.” I raised a single arched brow at his behavior as I stared at him. “I am assuming, seeing as you are within arm's length, that you are impersonating father and not me.” “Oh, come on, Tavin. Not even you are that stuffy. You are more the silent-don’t-f**k-with-me type. I couldn’t hold a straight enough face for that.” He smirked at me before putting his hands up in defeat. “I will behave.. mostly.” A chortle escaped from me as I shook my head, we had just landed, and he was already an ass. Well, at least he was consistent. “Just don’t make my life any more difficult. That is all I ask.” I stood up as he gave me an exaggerated salute, and we exited the jet to be met by three black SUVs. As our luggage was being loaded, I shook hands with the werewolf standing by the middle SUV. He had very distinct eyes, one grey and one brown, that caught my attention first. It wasn’t often you saw such a thing only on occasion in werewolves, though never in Lycans. A dimpled appeared on the left side of his cheek as he smiled and released my hand to place it around the brown-haired she-wolf next to him. Seeing a glimpse of their marks peeking out from their collars, I assumed they were a mated pair. “Bonsoir, Votre Altesse Royale. Welcome to Opal Moon. I am Beta Elie Cartier and this is my mate Beta Ambre Dubois.” The she-wolf gave a bow of her head as he introduced her. I didn’t expect them to be French, but if these two are any indication… they must be a good-looking pack. It took every bit of my willpower to suppress my urge to roll my eyes at Tate as the female Beta spoke up with a pout. “We have your suites all prepared back at The Packhouse. We wanted to make sure you could settle in before the Ceremony. I do apologize ahead of time, as some last-minute preparations are still being handled and might not be quite finished when we arrive.” Ah…so he is the French one, and she’s a Valley girl with a French name. I inhaled sharply at Tate’s mind link. Do little brothers ever grow out of that annoying phase? As I ignored him and looked at the couple, their faces seemed as if they were worried, and I quickly responded. “I appreciate your kindness. It will be nice to relax a little after traveling. You are very considerate, Betas.” Nodding to them as they stepped aside and opened the back door for me. I climbed into the vehicle and slid to the other side as Tate climbed in behind me. The door was shut, then after a few moments, we rolled into motion, and I leaned back to watch the changing landscape passing by the window. As we pulled up to the large mansion, I could see that the Beta was not exaggerating. Omegas were running around all over, and the Beta was standing on the outside steps giving orders. “Wait a minute? Isn’t the Beta in the SUV in front of us?” Tate voiced the question that had also popped into my head. “How the hell?” I give a grunt in acknowledgment of Tate’s inquiry. As I stepped out of the vehicle and looked around, I saw the Beta female exiting the other car and moving towards the doppelganger on the stairs. She hugged the lookalike and then stepped to the side as we approached. “Good Evening, your Highnesses. I am Luna Jean. It is an honor to host you this weekend during our Deltas’ Ceremony.” She gave an exaggerated curtesy and smiled, showing her canines. Tate stood next to me, giving his best charming smile as I nodded. My eyes narrowed as I took a closer look at the women. While they seem practically identical, even their body shapes and height, I noticed that the Beta female was without the freckles that the Luna had across her nose. Twins, it seems, and this makes them less interesting than the potential of doppelgangers. Giving off a cough to stifle the sound of a chuckle from hearing my mind link, Tate nodded and addressed the Luna. “We are intrigued to be here. I do believe the beautiful Beta said that you had rooms available to us. We would love to decompress after the long flight.” As per usual, the she-wolves seemed to melt at his smile, and I could not hold back an eye-roll as several Omegas had stopped working to drool. “Of… Of course! Let me show you the way.” Elie spoke up from behind and seemingly shook all the females out of their trances as he walked past to lead us in. “We have set you up in the guest quarters of the Delta wing. As it is only Delta Eva and her granddaughter, there is plenty of space. They are currently getting ready for tonight, so you will have the entire wing to yourselves for now.” “Well, that seems a rather efficient use of space, and being it is their Ceremony, it would be nice to get to know them. Wouldn’t you agree, Tavin?” I nodded in agreement as we followed Elie up to the third floor. Elie pushed open a set of double doors as he entered and stepped to the side. He seemed rather pleased that we were agreeable to our placement. The parlor of this wing opened before us in a nice mix of elegant yet modern décor, but all I could focus on was the smell of coconut and honey that filled my mind. While Elie showed Tate the entrance to our quarters, all I could do was follow her scent that led in the opposite direction. Everything else faded; all that mattered was finding the owner of this delectable smell. I opened the door to a corridor; the sound seemed to catch the attention of Tate and Elie. “Votre Altesse Royale? Sir, your rooms are this way… that’s the Deltas’ Private quarters….Sir?” The words were said, but I wasn’t listening. Where was she? **Tate’s POV* If the Beta female was any indication of the rest of the she-wolves of this pack, then I was going to have a great weekend. She was a little skinny for my taste but still a pretty face. Aww yeah! A satisfied smirk crossed my lips as I thought about the potential this weekend held. I promised Tavin I would behave, but he knew that didn’t mean I wouldn’t be getting some action. I always brought protection and NEVER messed with marked she-wolves. I had rules; I wasn’t stupid. Ranked females, however, it really depended. If they were unmated and not marked, then they were fair game as far as I was concerned. I just had to get a feel for their personalities first to see if they were after an upgrade or just looking for fun too. They were more of a challenge and could be forbidden fruit, making it all the more tantalizing. Mid-ranks and lower were easy prey and there when I didn’t feel like putting in an effort. As we pulled up to what had to be their Packhouse, I leaned over to look out Tavin’s window. “Wait a minute? Isn’t the Beta in the SUV in front of us?” I asked as I looked at her standing there giving orders to the Omegas. “How the hell?” Tavin grunted, which led me to think he was wondering the same thing. I exited the vehicle behind him and saw the Beta female moving towards the counterpart on the stairs. She hugged the lookalike and then stepped to the side as we approached. “Good Evening, your Highnesses. I am Luna Jean. It is an honor to host you this weekend during our Deltas’ Ceremony.” She gave an exaggerated curtesy and smiled, showing her canines. I stood next to Tavin and smiled at them as Tavin seemed to be examining the women. While they seem practically identical even down to their body shapes and height, the Beta female was without the freckles that the Luna had. Twins, it seems, and this made them less interesting than the potential of doppelgangers. Nodding to my brother’s mind link, I stifled my laugh with a cough. Tavin could be unintentionally funny at times, but he wasn’t wrong. Doppelgangers were a rarity even by supernatural standards, and that would have been more entertaining than simply being twins. I put on my signature charming smile to draw attention away from the evident disappointment written on my brother’s face. “We are intrigued to be here. I do believe the beautiful Beta said that you had rooms available to us. We would love to decompress after the long flight.” All the women around us seemed to freeze, and I could smell the arousal coming off many of the unmated omegas. Like fish in a barrel, getting laid was going to be child’s play. “Of… Of course! Let me show you the way.” Elie spoke up from behind and walked past to lead us in. “We have set you up in the guest quarters of the Delta wing. As it is only Delta Eva and her granddaughter, there is plenty of space. They are currently getting ready for tonight, so you will have the entire wing to yourselves for now.” A smirk grew on my lips as I gave a wink to a group of Omegas who were staring when the sudden voice of the male Beta, Elie, seemed to break them from their naughty thoughts. A few blushed as they quickly went back to work. “Well, that seems a rather efficient use of space, and being it is their Ceremony, it would be nice to get to know them. Wouldn’t you agree, Tavin?” He nodded in agreement as we followed Elie up to the third floor. Tavin wasn’t the chatty type; he spoke when needed, but he was not a fan of small talk, nor did he see its merits. That’s what I was here for. Elie pushed open a set of double doors as he entered and stepped to the side. He seemed rather pleased that we were agreeable to our placement. The parlor of this wing opened before us in a nice mix of elegant yet modern décor. I looked around, taking in the aesthetics of the room, each piece seemed to have been chosen not just for function but for comfort as well, and I could appreciate their tastes. You can tell a lot about a person based on how they lived and their homes. As Elie walked through to show us the entrance to our quarters, I took in the environment. I could tell that the Deltas were practical and not overly extravagant. It was pretty classy but still had that welcoming vibe that seemed to show they valued family as family photos were placed with care on the mantel. Didn’t the Beta say it was just the grandmother and granddaughter? I wondered about the others as I looked at the pictures when the sound of the door opening on the other side of the parlor pulled me from my thoughts. “Votre Altesse Royale? Sir, your rooms are this way… that’s the Deltas’ Private quarters….Sir?” Elie’s voice was almost pleading, but Tavin seemed to be ignoring him. “Tavin? Bro?” Was he ignoring me too? I quickly walked over to him, trying to get his attention. We couldn’t just barge into their private quarters when we were their guest. I mean...We could, we are Royalty, but we were taught better manners than that from our mom. “Tavin?! Seriously, dude…” I raised my voice slightly to get through whatever cotton he apparently had in his ears, but he still ignored me. For real? Was he seriously pulling this s**t in front of one of our hosts? Yeah… I'm the little brother, but this was really pissing me off at this point. Mom would be livid if she saw him acting like this. Planting my feet, I reached out and took hold of his arm, giving it a tight squeeze and preventing him from passing the threshold. I am unsure if this would lead to a brawl, but I really hoped it wouldn’t. Tavin was usually the one having to clean up my messes on these trips and defusing any drama. Why were the tables suddenly turned? “Tavin?!” At this point, I barked, having trouble masking my anger. “What the f**k? Knock it off. What's wrong with you!” “Where is she?” A deep, low, possessive growl escaped my brother as he turned to face me. His silver eyes glowing as I could see him trying to keep what little composure he was demonstrating. Elie and I exchanged looks of confusion before I looked back to my brother. “Where is who, man? Get a hold of yourself.” I slowly let go of his arm as his eyes started going back to normal. f**k… what the hell just happened? I turned to Elie and smiled cheerfully. “Beta, thank you so much for your hospitality. If you don’t mind, I believe my brother requires some rest.” He nodded and left the room quickly as I led Tavin to where our quarters were. I turned into the first room and shoved him inside as hard as I could. Now that we were alone, I didn’t have to hide my mood nor my desire to punch him in the face. He stumbled as I assumed he wasn’t expecting that amount of force and landed on the California King bed in the middle of the room. I was slightly taller than him, but he had the upper hand as far as strength went. Our fighting skills, however, were evenly matched. At this point, I was ready to beat his ass if I had to. It would be somewhat cathartic. “What the ACTUAL f**k, Tavin?! Have you gone mental?!?!” I practically roared at him before taking a deep breath through my nose. “I don’t like having to be that mature one.” I huffed, calming down slightly as I looked at him sitting there. He had his elbows on his knees and was brushing his fingers back through his hair. I couldn’t help but furrow my brow in my confusion before he finally spoke up. “She’s here… her scent is all over this wing…. I’m so close to her… but she’s not here.” He sounded so defeated, and it made me uncomfortable. Tavin’s defiant outlook made it near impossible for him even to show defeat; this was the first time in my entire life I had even heard it. “Who?” The question poured from my lips just as the realization hit me. Wow…. Maybe I am stupid. “Oh, goddess…were you looking for the Deltas?” “Yes. I can smell her….” He looked up, and his eyes began to glow again as he growled out. “She is MINE!” Well….shit
