I heard someone whisper, "Please don't leave me, my love."  I saw blinding bright lights in my eyes. "Please, stop that," I remember trying to say, but I'm not sure anything came out.  Someone was saying a name repeatedly. I heard, "Please hold on, my love." There was nothing for a while. Later, I could hear muffled voices and someone growling, "You should bloody well know better than to come here."  Then I heard nothing. I opened my eyes and saw a kind-looking man with glasses perched on his nose looking at me. He smiled at me. "There you are, Miss Spencer.
